Personnel• Programmer Position
• Magellan programmer, Pablo Castro, was terminated in late-March 2012
• A search was organized, and LCO Electronics Engineer Juan Espoz was offered and accepted the position
• He began the transition to this new job in February
Personnel (cont.)• New Telescope Operator
• Long-time Magellan telescope operator Geraldo Valladares resigned effective January 2013 to pursue other interests
• A search was organized in advance of his departure so as to have a new operator ready to replace him
• An offer was made to SOAR Telescope operator Alberto Pastén, who accepted and began working in late-November
Personnel (cont.)• Magellan Site Manager
• Marc Leroy, the Magellan Site Manager, was terminated in January
• We are in the process of redefining this position and searching for a replacement
