Support you can depend on
Bridge bearings transfer forces from the
bridge deck to its support pillars or abut-
ments. They can be designed as xed, gui-
ded sliding or free sliding, to suit the mo-
vement requirements of the bridge deck.
Wide range of high-quality bearingsmageba oers many types of bearing to
sasfy bridge-specic requirements: Pot
bearings, spherical bearings, elastomeric
bearings, horizontal force bearings, linear
rocker bearings, liing and measuring be-
arings, pendulum bearings, incremental
launch bearings and seismic bearings. In
the producon of these bearings, only high-
quality materials are used. These include
ROBOSLIDE, a sliding material with excep-
onal qualies, and the POM sealing chain
which has proven its worth over several de-
cades in sealing the elastomeric pad at the
heart of a pot bearing.
High quality as standard
Bearings are manufactured in accordance
with EN1337 unless otherwise specied.
The CE-label declares conformity with the
standards requirements.

4 RESTONPOT LIFT-CONTROL bearings perma-
nently display loads and can also be used to li the
structure.
Highlights - mageba bridge bearings
RESTONPOT bearings are among
magebas core products, with over
50,000 delivered to date. One of the-
se set a new world record in 2007
with its ability to carry 21,000 tonnes.
RESTONSPHERICAL is a spherical be-
aring which, especially together with
ROBOSLIDE, oers exceponal du-
rability. It is parcularly suitable for
large rotaons and low temperatures.
LASTOBLOCK is an elastomeric bea-
ring which, when using CR elastomer,
is highly resistant to ageing, UV light
and ozone.
RESTONPOT LIFT-CONTROL is a pot
bearing which allows the load from a
structure to be monitored. It can alsobe used as a jack to li the structure if
necessary.

mageba expansion joints
for lasng driver comfort
Expansion joints
Ensuring a smooth driving surface
Expansion joints play a vital role on almost
any bridge, because the bridge deck moves
as a result of temperature and other inu-
ences. The movement gap at each end of
the bridge deck must be bridged with a at
and even driving surface: the expansion
joint. As bridge technology improves, andthe spans of new bridges connue to in-
crease, the demands on bridge expansion
joints also increase.
Wide and well-proven range
mageba supplies a wide range of expansi-
on joint types, including single gap joints,
modular joints, canlever jonits and sli-
ding nger joints, mat joints, railway joints
and sliding plate joints. Worthy of special
menon is the modular expansion joint,
which was invented by mageba several
decades ago and has been connually de-
veloped ever since. This exceponal type
of joint has been installed on over 5,000
bridges around the world.
Highlights mageba expansion joints
TENSAMODULAR (Type LR) is an ex-
ceponally exible and durable joint
with oponal features such as noise-
reducing surface plates, special sli-
ding material, an-skid coang and
earthquake protecon.
TENSAFINGER (Type RSFD) is a can-
lever nger joint which oers high
driving comfort.
TENSAFLEX (Type RC) is a sliding n-
ger joint which oers minimum noise
and maximum driving comfort. It is
easy to install and can accommodate
small vercal movements.
TENSACRETE (Type RE) is a single
gap joint consisng of steel edge pro-
les anchored in high-strength poly-
mer concrete.

1,920mm movement capacity) during installaon.
2 Installaon of a TENSAFINGER (Type RSFD) can-
lever nger joint with 240mm movement capacity.
3 Installaon of a TENSAFLEX (Type RC) sliding
nger joint. The modular nature of the joint allows
installaon with minimal impact on trac.
4 The TENSACRETE SILENT (Type RE-LS) joint
is parcularly suited to replacement of old joints in
busy roads. It normally requires no breaking out of
concrete and its special polymer concrete cures in
only a few hours.

on a bridge.
Growing demand for seismic protecon
Bridges and other structures can be sub-
jected to extreme movements and vibra-
ons during an earthquake. This can cause
a structure to fail if suitable protecon has
not been detailed. The demand for seismic
protecon features, especially for key buil-
dings and transportaon routes, connuesto grow strongly.
Protecng bridges and buildings
In addion to supplying civil engineering
and building products, mageba also specia-
lises in reliable soluons for the protecon
of structures. A wide range of products are
oered, including Fuse-Box protecon for
modular joints, hydraulic and spring dam-
pers, lead rubber bearings, and vibraon
isolaon products for buildings.
Customised soluons
mageba is also pleased to assist in the de-
velopment of specialised soluons for any
parcular set of requirements, and of su-
stainable soluons with consideraon of
durability, long life and future needs.
Highlights mageba seismic devices
Hydraulic dampers and preloaded
spring dampers absorb and dissipa-
te excessive energy during dynamic
events such as earthquakes.
Spring disc dampers are parcularly
valued for their reliability, top-quality
materials, and durability.
Lead Rubber Bearings (LRB) constu-
te the worlds most widespread solu-
on for the protecon of bridges and
buildings during earthquakes.
Fuse-Box - The Fuse-Box feature en-
sures that a modular joint will dis-
connect from the main structure in a
controlled way during an earthquake. This prevents major damage to the
bridge or expansion joint.
