MEN’S FITNESS MAGAZINES

MY VISIT

• The genre that catches my attention the most is soccer magazines. However, I believe

that health and fitness magazines being a very close second, because I am really

interested in learning to live a healthier life.

• The most eye catching magazine was Men’s Fitness. It always has a well -known celebrity

on the cover and very loud, attention grabbing cover lines.

• Although it wasn’t the most up-to-date article, I really liked the October 2013 because I

am still hyped about the newest X-Men movie that came out, and so it was cool to see

Hugh Jackman on the cover.

• The magazines seemed to be very similar to each other throughout the issues.

• All of the magazines really caught my attention because of the bright red fonts or big

black fonts.

REFLECTION

• During my visit, I learned that magazines within the same genre had similar articles and

information, worded slightly differently.

• The most eye catching features about the magazines where the articles with images in it.

• I learned that I need to include articles with pictures of what I’m talking about, whether it

be routines, machines, or supplements.

WHAT MEN’S FITNESS ABOUT

• Men’s fitness is about taking care of your body, while also become more

muscular by means of working out properly and supplementing your body.

• The target audience is male aged around 16 through 40

• “Lean and Mean in 28 days”, “7 Perfect Power Foods”, “Get Fit By The

Fall”, “Lose your Gut”

QUESTIONS

• The central image is almost always a celebrity that is in shape. They are

usually posed in a way to show their muscles.

• The photos are usually always in front of a plain white background.

• The masthead is always the same font, but the color varies in accordance

to the background or what the model in the central image is wearing.

This is my inspiration because it uses

great space and none of the cover

lines are covered by the central

image. Also Robert Downey Jr. has

great facial hair.
