MAGAZINE COVER COPYCAT PROJECT Locate two covers that meet the following criteria and have all of these features. Copy/paste them into Word or PowerPoint and label them . Special layer style(s) used (i.e. drop shadow, inner glow, outer glow, stroke, bevel). 3. Text inside a shape. 4. An item cut out and extracted to own layer, requiring selection (i.e. head in front of letters). 5. Two other special features (minimum)—examples include change in letter kerning, use of transparency, blur filter, rotation, clipping mask, special brushes, etc. When you Copycat… 1. You will attempt to recreate the cover as closely as possible, including taking your own photographs to use (at least the main photo must be you or the person you are doing the magazine cover about—a family member, close friend, or faculty/staff member). 2. You will re-write the “article teasers” to tell me about your subject (you or another person—friend/family/teacher). 3. You will be required to use photo retouch techniques—consider “glamour shot” type poses and touchup (makeup, hair, eyes, etc.) or making yourself “hardcore” (adding tattoos, piercings, etc.). Before pictures will be turned in and there must be significant differences. 4. You will be required to add a barcode. 5. You will be required to put the current year/month and a price of $5.99. 6. You may not copy/paste any parts of magazines or magazine logos. Create all text from scratch, and use original photographs and shapes where possible.
