Front cover common conventionsMasthead: the name/title of the magazine, always on the front page
Main headlines: stories that are currently big in the media and will draw in the most interest
Sub headlines: Stories that will draw in readers attention that ay not be as popular as the main headlines.
Barcode: always on the front cover of a magazine. Advertisements are often on the back page
Website address: shows that they are online and can be accessed on the go.
Issue number & date: tells us how many editions of the magazine there is and when they were published.
Price: always on the front page, easy to access.
Comments: This magazine front cover is very busy with lots of stories. It has a bold masthead and a bold colour scheme. From this you can tell that the target audience is women.
Box out: makes stories and images stand out, often surrounded by bright colours.

Main image:This image takes up at least 1/3 to ½ of a page. Always the subject of the double page spread.
By Line: informs the readers on who has wrote the article.
Main story headline: clarifies story content/what the article is about.
Pull quote: To intrigue the reader.
