MAGNETOMETER SURVEY REPORT
HEARST, MCFADDEN, AND MCGARRY TOWNSHIPS
LARDER LAKE MINING DIVISION
N.T.S. 32D4
PROPERTY S, LOCATION
The property consists of 82 unpatented mining claims located mostly within Larder Lake in northeastern Hearst Twp., but extending eastward into McFadden Twp. and north-eastward into McGarry Twp. The town of Larder Lake is approximately 3 miles northwest from the center of the claim group.
Owners of the above property are R.A.MacGregor of Sault Ste Marie, Ontario and L.Lacasse of Larder Lake, Ontario.
Canadian Nickel Company Limited has an option agreement covering the entire claim group but only 44 of the most easterly claims are being reported on at this time for assessment work credits as listed:-
claims: L 467264L 548747 to L 548776 incl. L 579786 to L 579790 incl. L 626751 to L 626758 incl.
ACCESS
All weather highways to Larder Lake then by boat (summer) or snow machine (winter).
PREVIOUS WORK
The general area has been prospected for goldintermittently since 1906. Trenching is evident in many areas where drift cover is light. Diamond drilling has been done in many locations where carbonatized and/or silicified zones were known to occur.
In 1947 Virgo Larder Mines, Limited owned a group of 30 claims that probably covered the western half of this optioned claim group. For written description and geology see page 29 of the following reference:

Ontario Department of Mines Vol. LVI, Part VIII, 1947
Geology of Hearst and McFadden Townshipsby J.E.Thomson.
On R.A.MacGregor's behalf, Canadian NickelCompany Limited filed a geological survey as assessment work in March 1982, covering 28 claims that overlie the long north-south trending peninsula in Larder Lake. This survey covers ground believed to be the former Virgo Larder Mines property.
OBJECT OF SURVEYS
The main purpose of the magnetic survey was to outline basic and ultrabasic rock types and iron formation containing disseminated magnetic minerals such as magnetite and/or pyrrhotite located in areas covered with water and overburden.
MAGNETOMETER SURVEY (PROCEDURE)
The instrument used is a Sharpe MF-1 magnetometer which measures the vertical component of the earth's magnetic field directly in gammas, positive or negative, over a range of 100,000 gammas. This hand held magnetometer requires no orientation and after coarse levelling the magnetic reading is recorded from a meter mounted on the top of the instrument.
This magnetic survey was tied into a previous magneto meter survey done by R.A.MacGregor over the long peninsula mentioned earlier. Tie-in point was at 88E - 24N where the MF-1 magnetometers used for the extended survey were adjusted to read 2200 gammas. Base line readings were then taken at the grid line intersections along the 88E base line from 28N to 145N on Island "u". During the course of the survey magnetic diurnal variations were determined by tying into the base reference stations and then making necessary corrections to the grid line stations. Using this correction procedure all readings are relative to the tie-in point on the original survey at 88E - 24N.
All magnetic readings were taken at 100 foot intervals along the grid lines and all were read on the 3000 gammas instrument scale.
SURVEY DATA
Surveying of the grid base line and chaining and picketing of the grid was contracted to Terry Kirwan of Wahnapitae, Ontario who carried out this work during the period February 8 to 25,1982.
Grid lines are spaced 400 feet apart and station- pickets are at 100 foot intervals along all grid lines.
Two I.N.CO. employees conducted the magnetometer survey during the period February 11- 27,1982. I.n.co. personnel stayed in their rented building in Larder Lake and travelled back and forth to work daily by motorized snow machine.
Supervisor in charge of the survey work was:
John E. Mullock, 26 Cobalt Street, Copper Cliff, Ontario,
2.25 miles, 35.40 miles. 1869

SURVEY RESULTS (MAGNETIC)
Magnetic survey reaults are shown on 10 accompanying maps drafted on a scale of l" = 200 feet. Magnetic readings are plotted in gamma values relative to a arbitrarily esta blished base station value of 2200 gammas. Magnetic contour intervals are shown as follows:
100 gammas - light broken lines. 500 gammas - heavy broken lines.
200 gammas - light solid lines, 1000 gammas - heavy solid lines.
Note that magnetic survey coverage i s.'-: shown on the enclosed plans for 10 claims which Canico is not claiming assessment work credits for. Listed below are the 10 claims referred to:
L 442065, 442068, 446645, 446672, 446679, L 446683, 446687, 447105, 447109, 447174.
Except for a couple of broad weak anomalies the area surveyed is quite flat magnetically.
In the northwest corner of Sheet C-8 there is a broad elliptical anomaly, in excess of 400 feet strike length, and 200 to 300 gammas above background magnetic intensity.
At the southeast corner of Sheet C-3 there are two broad elliptical anomalies trending NE-SW. Both anomalies exceed 800 feet of strike length and they vary from 300 to 400 gammas above magnetic background.
CONCLUSION
The weak anomalies outlined do not warrant any further geophysical survey work.
Gerald J Geregnt June 8,1982.

FLUXGATE MAGNETOMETER
A first order fluxgate type vertical com
ponent magnetometer. Advanced transis
torized circuitry and extensive temperature
compensation is the core of its accuracy
comparable to precision tripod mounted
Schmidt type magnetometers.
It is a hand held instrument and needs
only coarse levelling and no orientation.
Features such as direct reading of gamma
values and the possibility of accurate zero
setting at base stations ensure simplicity
of operation and higher field economy.
