Making A Difference within the living community of Whakarewarewa (The Living Thermal Village) is the main goal of this package. It is designed to give a cultural knowledge to the participant about the Maori traditions and rituals as well as to help those living in the village with conservation volunteer work.

Your package includes 2 Nights accommodationin Auckland which can be used when you arriveinto New Zealand or just before you depart.

Nomads Auckland will be able to arrange yourtransfers to Rotorua (which will be an additionalcost). All participants will need to be in Rotoruaby Monday evening ready to begin the programmeon Tuesday morning.

DAY ONE: (TUESDAY)8.00am Breakfast – Kiwi Paka

8.30am Depart Kiwi Paka

9.00am Arrive at Whakarewarewa to meet your key contact person for the next four days.Here you will be briefed about what you will be doing and introduced to members ofthe team and village residents as part of your induction. You will be allocated a pairof boots and other gear that will be required for you to wear as well as be informedabout the health & safety requirements.

10.00am Cultural Activity – Guided TourJoin the guided tour so that you learn about the village and its unique cultural way ofliving that continues today. See sites of historic importance and admire the naturalresources. This is a great way to begin your Whakarewarewa adventure.

11.00am - Conservation Activity3.00pm Meet your maintenance supervisor & see what project you will be assisting with

over the next few days. Projects will differ depending on the weather, time of yearresources available and situations that may arise unexpectedly within the village.Enjoy your packed lunch with the crew.

3.00pm Be picked up by Kiwi Paka and return to your accommodation

4.00pm Learn how to perform the world famous Haka! Learn the true meaning, purposeand history of the Haka. This is done at Kiwi Paka

DAY TWO: (WEDNESDAY)8.00am Breakfast – Kiwi Paka

8.30am Depart Kiwi Paka

9.00am – 1.30pm Conservation ActivityArrive at Whakarewarewa to continue your conservation work.This will include having a packed lunch.

2.00pm Cultural Activity – Cultural Show & ParticipationHave time to clean up to then watch a 30minute cultural performance.Meet one of our guides who will teach you your own Maori song that you canperform back to your family and friends.

3.00pm Be picked up by Kiwi Paka and return to your accommodation

TBA Be picked up by Tamaki Tours and taken out to experience a lively Maoricultural performance based on a true story, real characters and actualevents, each coming together to create a state of the art indigenous re-enactment. The nightly Rotorua Maori cultural event features arts, craft,song, performing arts and traditional Maori feast.

DAY THREE: (THURSDAY)

8.00am Breakfast – Kiwi Paka

8.30am Depart Kiwi Paka

9.00am – 1.00pm Community DevelopmentArrive to Whakarewarewa and spend time participating in an activity that ispart of village life. This may include the churches, the pre-school, acommunity event run by the village, the local craft stores or spending timewith a village resident.

This will include a packed lunch.

1.00pm – 3.00pm Conservation ActivityThis may involve doing something new of completing the work you started.

3.00pm Be picked up by Kiwi Paka and return to your accommodation

DAY FOUR: (FRIDAY)

8.00am Breakfast – Kiwi Paka

8.30am Depart Kiwi Paka

9.00am – 2.30pm Conservation ActivityComplete your conservation and or community work. This will include packedlunch.

2.30pm – 5.00pm Cultural Activity – Traditional PracticesMeet one of the team to help prepare for your poroporoaki (farewell) withstaff and village residents. This will include seeing the food placed into thesteam box and hot pools and being pulled out once cooked

5.00pm – 8.00pm Community Activity - HakariEnjoy your hakai (meal) with the Whaka whanau. An opportunity toprovide feedback and share what you have learnt during your time atWhakarewarewa. Receive a memento on behalf of the village as a tokenof appreciation.

8.00pm Be picked up by Kiwi Paka and return to your accommodation

Mad Requirements:

• A minimum of two people.

• Participants must be at least 18 years of age.

• This is a 4 day programme beginning on a Tuesday and i

s

not available on ChristmasDay.

• Participants must adhere toall health & safety

instructions given by ToursTeam.

• Any special dietary requirements must be email or faxed

through at least 1 week prior to the participants arrival.

• Participants should be dressed appropriately to work in

fine, cold or wet weather conditions.

Mad Inclusions:• 7 Nights Accommodation (2 X Nomads Auckland eitherpre or post) and (5 X Kiwi Paka – Rotorua)• 7 X Continental Breakfasts• A packed lunch will be provided each day you are out atthe village (4 X lunches)• Tamaki Tours – Hangi and Concert• Haka World – Learn to do the Haka• Hakari Dinner - may happen on the third day rather thanthe last day.

Mad Extra:Transfer from Auckland – Rotorua

Mad Conditions:The Tours does have the rig

ht to cancel the 4 day programme due to unforeseen

circumstances or health &safety reasons . At least 24 hours notice will be

provided.The itinerary for each day may change depend

ing on weather or village

events. Participants will beadvised of such changes at

the beginning or end of

each day. The Tours does not take any responsibility for

any activities participants

engage in that are a) outside the hours of this programme , b) n

ot under the

supervision of the Tours .Being under the influence

of alcohol or drugs is not

accepted between 9am-5pm& participants will be remov

ed from the programme.
