Dear Friend, Summer is supposed to be a time of rest and relaxation. Somehow, I think we missed that memo. Between gearing up to launch Finish Line Sports for the fall, developing local missions networks, planning several up-coming conferences and renovating our kitchen, I have not had a second to spare. Unfortunately, this means that I am late in getting news to you, and for that, I apologize. Thank you to those of you who have kept on top of us. It is nice to know that you care and want to hear from us more. Reliving Old Memories By Creating New OnesWhat a great way to spend a summer! Shannon and the kids traveled to Iowa to visit family, meet new cousins, and introduce Liam to the family. For 5 weeks, they stayed with her parents and enjoyed making new memories. P.s. We do have two immediate needs that you can help with today. See the back for more imformation.

Thankfully, our monthly support has remained fairly steady. We are currently at $1500 of our $7500 goal. We need your help. We are looking for volunteers to host a dessert party for three of their friends with whom we could share our vision and support needs with. gorgeous; maybe 80 degrees at most with very little humidity (for Iowa, that is). One day, they were even able to meet up with their friends from Phoenix, the Andersons, who were traveling through Iowa. The boys loved spending time with their friends from home. They also traveled to Minnesota to visit Devon’s brother Nathan and his wife, Jolene. They visited the Mall of America and took in a Minnesota Twins game. Perhaps the boy’s favorite part of the trip was riding their bikes around town, collecting pop cans which they were able to redeem for a nickel a piece. The money never made it home, as it was usually spent at the Foreign Candy Company on the way home. I think it is the only store left in America where a dollar can still buy a handful of candy! The highlight for Shannon was being able to cheer up her mom and dad as they transition into having an “empty nest”. Even though they didn’t miss the Ari-zona heat, everyone really missed their friends, our family away from family. It made us realize how much we are blessed to have each and everyone of you as a part of our lives and more importantly our ministry. While they were away, Devon spent his time building as well. Instead of mem-ories, he was busy building our ministry and working on some long overdue kitchen renovations. A big thank you to all of you who helped us with this proj-ect. May God bless your free labor with rewards that are out-of-this-world.

Ministry Highlight: West Valley Missions ConsortiumThe West Valley Missions Consortium is a monthly gathering of missions-minded leaders for the purpose of asking questions, sharing ideas, establishing networks and building partnerships. It is by working together, that God’s people can more effectively change lives both locally, and internationally. By discussing topics from “casting a missions vision” to “effective budgeting strategies”; “reaching local immigrants and refugees“ to “partnering with indigineous workers overseas”; and “preparing those seeking to go long or short-term to the field” to “caring for them when they return”, we are able to train and develop local missions leaders wherever they are at.

Please continue to pray for us as we prepare our church’s leaders to go, send and teach (Matthew 28:19-20).

Kids CornerLiam has been a great addition to our family. He is now 6 months old and weighs over 18 pounds! He is rolling everywhere; grab-bing for everything. He loves baby food and ice cream. Ashlyn is learning some new things herself. She is potting training and no longer dependent on her binky. She loves her dollies and gets her piggies painted when-ever mommy has the time. The boys enjoyed their first camp at Prescott Pines. The theme this year was “The Day of Reckoning”, where they learned about giving an account for everything that they do. Bryce is playing base-ball again in the fall for Inside Pitch, while Brady and Aidan play for Finish Line. School is also just around the corner and the boys will be in 4th, 5th, and 6th grade already! Please continue to pray for us as we continue to raise our (dare I say, almost adolescent) children.

Reliving Old Memories...continued

Our Ministry

1. Consulting with individual pastors and lay leaders helping them• develop their vision, strategy, and missional leadership• mobilize their people and resources for service

2. Developing networks of church leaders where the church can get specific, practical assistance tailored to their outreach needs

3. Producing training and promotional resources that can be used by leaders to inspire and equip their people

We help churches by:

TWO IMMEDIATE NEEDS:1. Our 2000 VW Beetle is in need of some repairs. Although it is paid for, it is not currently driveable. With school starting soon, it will be very difficult to operate with just one vehicle. Our mechanic has estimated that it will cost us about $2100 to fix the transmission, radiator, front end and water pump.2. Last year, we found out Bryce had too many teeth to fit his mouth. As a result, he has been seeing an orthodontist to fix them. As part of our monthly payment, they have pulled 9 baby teeth. They have now determined that they need to pull 2 adult teeth to allow the rest of his teeth to come in. The cost of the proceedure is $450.If you can help out in either of these two ways, your check can be mailed to:
