LIU plans for LBS upgrade

• replacement of the spectrometer magnet (reuse identical magnets from Linac2)• exchange of the power converter (from Linac4)• controls modifications to power convertors and beam diagnostics in the part of the transfer

line in common with Linac4, to allow simpler line sharing between H- and ions.

Layout database: Linac2: LI, LA, LTE, LTL missing from layout database - only LT, LTB, BI, LBS, LBE are present Linac3 not present in the database

Beam off: Equipment failures that could cause a prolonged beam unavailability mainly related to vacuum leaks or malfunction of pneumatic arms for intercepting devices – SIS watchdog can be modified/bypassed in case of BCT failure in order to resume operation

Criticality: Linac3 – very little instrumentation and lack of redundancy what is there is mostly critical for operation

Software: need guaranteed maintenance of BI standalone applications and work towards integration of standalone controls

Conclusions
