Operating the sorter
This feature allows the operator to “single out”and accumulate totals of individual items in theBatch mode. In addition, numbers may be en-tered as part of the Grand Total identifier.
An example of this function is the ability of avendor to keep track of how much of the totalamount came from a particular type of machine, such as coffee.
There are three rules that must be observed:
1. The ID (IDENTIFICATION) number must beno more than 15 digits long.
2. The last 1--4 digits are the control numberand must have one of the following formats(x can be 1--4 digits).
1. yyy -- xxxx2. -- xxxx3. xxxx4. Match a Pre--Entered ID List
Note: ID #0022 and #22 will be treatedas the same id number.
3. The maximum number of ID’S available is200.
In a banking application, these ID’s could beused to identify up to 200 tellers, or in the vend-ing industry up to 200 different products.

fuse location
Circuit protection
The Sorter employs one Fuse in each leg of theincoming AC line. If either Fuse becomes inop-erative, the Sorter will stop.
Caution: Disconnect Sorter from power be-fore examining or replacing fuses.Always replace the fuse with the correct sizeand type for continued circuit protection.
A coin (or other article) jam severe enough tostop the Sorting Motor will cause the PowerSupply to go into a “foldback” (semi--shutdown)mode; and, if left unattended, will eventuallyblow one or both of the fuses.

!!! IMPORTANT SAFETYINFORMATION !!!
Caution: Disconnect the power cord fromthe power source before cleaning or remov-ing a jammed coin or other object. The cointotals and bagstop quantities will be retainedby the battery backup circuitry when thepower cord is disconnected.
A. CLEANING / JAM REMOVAL
Many cleaning--related accidents are caused byfailure to follow basic safety rules or written pre-cautions. Accidents can be avoided if the opera-tor is completely familiar with the Sorter and itsoperation.
Improper or inadequate maintenance or care ofthe Sorter can be dangerous and could result indamage to the Sorter or personal injury or deathto you or other persons.
Caution: Never attempt cleaning when thesorter is connected to power.Never allow tools, fingers, hair, or clothing tocome near moving parts.
The frequency of any cleaning program must bedetermined by the operator, and will ultimatelybe controlled by operational environment (condi-tion of coin, frequency of use, etc.). The PowerCord should always be disconnected beforecleaning.
156
sorter cleaning / jam removal
Customer maintenance
1. General Cleaning
The Sorter should be kept clean and freefrom dirt and dust. Clean the outside with asoft cloth and a mild soap. NEVER use alco-hol, Ketone, or any harsh chemicals on theoutside surfaces. NEVER spray any liquiddirectly onto the Control or inside the Sorter.A small portable vacuum is handy for remov-ing coin dust buildups from surfaces insidethe Sorter.
2. Cleaning Coin Sensors / Clearing Jams inSorting Area
Should a badly bent or mutilated coin or oth-er object enter the sorting area, it could be-come jammed and must be removed beforefurther operation.
The Coin Sensors, located at the coin exitpoints, control the counting and must bekept clean and free of dirt buildups, coindust, bag strings, etc., at all times.
Should either situation arise, proceed as fol-lows:
a. Disconnect the Sorter from Power.
b. Lift the Top Cover for access to thefinned Elastic Drive Disc.
c. Remove the Disc by removing the Elas-tomeric (O--Ring) Retainer and unscrew-ing the large knob in the middle of theDisc.
d. Referring to FIGURE #146, remove theprotective foam strip and CAREFULLYclean the channel, then clean eachCount Sensor with a cotton--tipped swab.
e. Reverse the process to replace the Disc.
f. Close the Top Cover and replace theWork Surface. Connect the Sorter toPower, and, if desired, test for properoperation with coin as follows:

3. Clearing jams in the Receiving Area.
Should a Coin Bag become overfilled, stop theSorting Motor.
The likely causes for this condition are:
a. Incorrect Bagstop setting for size of CoinBag.
b. Failure to empty Bag at Bagstop.
c. Improperly installed or folded Coin Bag.
If a Coin Bag is overfilled, the coins may alsoback--up inside the Coin Chute. Straighten theBag and / or shake the Chute to allow the coinsto fall / settle.
If the jam persists, contact your Authorized Ser-vice Representative for assistance.
C. PAPER ROLL REPLACEMENT
Complete instruction for Paper Roll installationand replacement are contained in the Installa-tion section at the beginning of this Guide.
