Introduction• Three options to categorize the Generic MAC Header
(GMH) as follows:– Option 1: The GMH could be first categorized into two
types, one for control plane and the other for data plane. Then the GMH for control plane could be further categorized into two sub-types, one for MAC message and one for signaling header.
– Option 2: The GMH could be first categorized into two types, one with payload and one without payload. Then the GMH with payload could be further categorized into two sub-types, one for MAC message and the other for MAC data.
– Option 3: The GMH could be categorized into three types, signaling header, MAC message header and MAC data header.

Comparisons• MAC data header for Option 1 and signaling header for option
2 require 1 bit GMH type. The comparison of the above three options are given in the table 1.
• There are more data PDU than signaling header in 16m system
• Option 1 is the best choice
Table 1 Require GMH type length

Option 1 1 bit 2 bits
Option 2 2 bits 1 bit
Option 3 2bits 2bits
Proposed Text
10.x Generic MAC Header (GMH)
The Generic MAC Header (GMH) shall be first categorized into two types, one for control plane and the other for data plane. Then the GMH for control plane shall be further categorized into two sub-types, one for MAC message and one for signaling header
