Majors and Minors• Majors- a subject or field

of study that a student selects as their main focus.

• It will help train them for the career that lies within the said field of study.

• Example: majoring in medicine to train to be a pharmacist.

• It earns a degree

• Minors- a subject or a course of study that is secondary to a major, in essence, acts like a supplementary.

• Example: Majoring in child education and minoring in physiology.

• It earns a certificate and or degree

Jobs and Careers• Job- work with specific tasks

done as part of the routine for an employment.

• Full-time or part-time position. Long term or short term

• Can be acquired with or with out special training or a degree

• Career- an occupation or profession.

• Full time or part time. Normally long term as a life’s profession.

• Requires special training (a degree)

Realistic• Traits: Active, nature

lover, curious, hands on worker, a tinker, lone worker, mechanically inclined.

• You can: Use tools, solve problems, play a sport and work outside.

• Possible Majors: Anthology, Athletic Coaching, Engineering.

• Possible careers: Technical Director, Engineering (cars, computers, machines, etc), Coaching, Explorer (geology, Naturalist, etc)

Investigative• Traits: You create your own rules, curious of the natural and scientific world, enjoy the field of science and mathematics, observant, analytical, and precise.

• You can: solve problems, think and create ideas, work alone (experimenting and learning).

• Possible majors: Biology, Engineering (electric, chemical, etc), Law, Math.

• Possible careers: Scientist (political, biological, chemical, mathematical, nuclear, molecular, medical) Researcher, Surgeon.

Artistic• Traits: Expressive, creative, prefer choice over structure, individualist.

• You can: create/read literature, craft (draw, paint, sing, compose, photos, etc).

• Possible majors: Art (history or studio) architect, music, writing (creative or nonfiction), Theater, Media Design (graphics, video game, movie)

• Possible careers: Designer (websites, magazines, video games, clothing) artist, music composer or musician, exhibit/interior designer.

SocialTraits: you like the spot light, helpful with people, solving problems through discussion and people, you enjoy helping the community and people in general. Understanding, out going and very social as well as insightful

You can: work in groups, assist people with their problems, participate in group projects and discussions, play in a team and teach well.

Possible majors: ethics, communications, environment, religion, language, education, management, law, history.

Possible careers: Teaching, Doctor, Public server (police, fire department, ER, SWAT, etc) or attendants, therapist.
