Responsible management MsM subscribes to high ethical standards in business and promotes Corporate Social Responsibility and sustainable development. Each year we organize a CSR conference to give participants in the MBA program the opportunity to interact with representatives from the top international business community on CSR topics and best practices.

Strong links to the business communityPersuing an MBA degree is not only about management thinking and case studies. Thanks to its strong links with the business community, MsM offers participants in the MBA program exposure to the best companies and organizations in the region, who best exemplify successful global business and management. This is facilitated through our international management mentorship program, our MBA Business Colloquium, as well as an active program of guest-lectures and work visits.

International management mentorship programMsM’s International Management Mentorship is a platform to link our talented, experienced and diverse group of MBA students on an individual basis to representatives of the local and regional business community and governmental institutions. This match allows mentors and students to build mutually benefi cial and durable networks and relationships. For MBA students, the mentorship program is a unique and much appreciated opportunity to gain insights into for instance Dutch business and governance know-how. The initiative is also valued by local representatives, who see it as a chance to broaden their personal knowledge of foreign business cultures and expertise. The precise content of the mentorship is jointly determined by the mentor and the student. Professional interaction is the main objective of the mentorship; experience shows however that the most durable and benefi cial relationships are most often builtin the cultural and social sphere. More than 20 senior managers from organizations such as Obvion NV, Mayfran International BV, ING Nederland, the City of Maastricht, Maastricht University, DSM Innovation Center, the Province of Limburg, are participatingin the international management mentorship program, which was one of the three nominees for the Nuffi c Orange Carpet Award 2014.

Connecting theory to practiceEvery month during the academic year the MBA Business Colloquium features a guest lecture with a representative of the business community on a subject directly linked to the MBA course topic. Some recent examples included:• in the context of the Accounting for Managers 1 course,

“ The one-year MBA program at MsM really made me a new person. MsM not only gave me all the knowledge a modern manager should have but also the wisdom a person should have to survive and succeed in his or her life. The up-to-date management knowledge delivered by the lecturers and the learning environmentcreated by all MsM staff members and the students from all over the world made MsM a perfect place for me to study. Logical thinking, process analysis, team work, time management, communication skills, managing cultural diversity, were just a few things that I learned during the program. As part of my regular job as Marketing and Business Development Manager, I recently started my own business as Independent Marketing Consultant”.
