No. 8074  Page 1 of 5 COPYRIGHT 2007 ENSCO INTERNATIONAL INC. 24-Jul-07  CATEGORY: Operations OWNER: Unit Engineer Preventive Maintenance OBJECTIVE: Inform rigs of the attached Cameron Safety Alert No. 8074 and to check the integrity of the ram blocks for cracks that would result in ram breakage during a shearing operation or compromise obtaining a ‘wellbore seal’ during a well test or control situation. BACKGROUND: The Safety Alert issued by Cameron regards ram bodies that were recently returned from the field which exhibited cracks at the interlocking pocket locations. The reason for the cracking is said to be attributed to the Blade Hardening Process during manufacture of the rams. IMPLEMENTATION REQUIREMENTS: Business Units and OIMs: Applicable rigs shall open an Alert type Service Order to document completion of this Alert. USER: OIM CORRECTIVE ACTION: At the earliest opportunity; carry out a magnetic particle inspection of the areas as shown in Figures 1 through 4 of the Cameron Safety Alert No. 8074. The following part numbers are affected by this alert:- o 18-3/4” 15,000 psi DVS upper ram bodies No. 2163118-01 o 18-3/4” 15,000 psi DVS lower ram bodies No. 2163118-02 o 13-5/8” 5,000/10,000 psi ISR upper ram bodies No. 2164773-01 o 13-5/8” 5,000/10,000 psi ISR lower ram bodies No. 2164774-01 AUDIT: Action Items: Rig: ____ MA Applies: _______ Yes ____ No Service Order Number(s) _N/A____________ OIM’s:  Ensure that within two days of receipt of this Maintenance Alert, applicable rigs have opened an Alert type SO, filled in the appropriate sections above, and sent a filled out copy of this Maintenance Alert to the Rig Manager.  OIM’s Signature: ________________________ Date: ____________ Electronic signature (example //s// John Doe) is acceptable.
