Dear Derek, M42 JUNCTION 6 IMPROVEMENT SCHEME Statement of Community Consultation ("SoCC") – Formal Issue for Review Section 47 Planning Act 2008 ("PA 2008") Highways England is proposing to improve M42 Junction 6 with a new 2.4 kilometre link road, between the A45 Clock Interchange and a new junction on the M42 south of Junction 6. The Scheme is a nationally significant infrastructure project under PA 2008. We will therefore be submitting an application for development consent under PA 2008 to authorise the Scheme. As part of the pre-application process set out in PA 2008, Highways England will shortly begin formal pre-application consultation about the Scheme. Under section 47(2) PA 2008, Highways England must publish a SoCC setting out how it proposes to consult people living in the vicinity of the Scheme. In accordance with section 47 PA 2008: We have developed a draft SoCC, enclosed with this letter, which sets out our proposed approach for consulting the local community; and We are now issuing the draft SoCC to you, as a local authority in whose area the proposed Scheme is situated, in order to provide you with the opportunity to submit any comments or suggestions with regards to the proposed consultation methodology and approach set out in the draft SoCC. This letter and the enclosed draft SoCC comprise consultation documents under section 47(4) PA 2008. You may already be aware that section 47(3) PA 2008 provides that if you wish to comment on the draft SoCC, the deadline for receipt by us of any comments is the end of the period of 28 days that begins with the day after the day on which you receive the consultation documents.
