A realperspective

This course, ranked second in the UK bythe Financial Times in 2010*, is based onan MBA style curriculum. It is academicallyrigorous and highly practical, oeringgraduates rom a variety o backgroundsthe opportunity to develop knowledge andskills in key areas o modern management.

This AMBA (Association o MBAs) accreditedcourse allows you to tailor your studies tosuit your particular interests and ambitions.You will be taught skills such as working

with others, leadership, decision making,communication, managing conict and jobinterview techniques, complementing theacademic elements o the course.

Commencing in September, the coursebegins with the ‘Foundations o ManagementWorkshop’. This highly practicalworkshop introduces students to the Casseducational philosophy and prepares youor the undamental concepts that areaddressed throughout the course. It alsolays the oundations or uture group workassignments required on the programme.

The frst term ocuses on a range o management tools and skills that allorganisations use, allowing you to identiyareas o strength and interest. In thesecond term you will get to specialisein a subject rom a choice o: strategicmanagement, internal auditing, marketingor entrepreneurship. These streams arecontinued into the electives and a project istaken in the third term.

The Marketing stream recognises the central

role played by marketing in organisationsand is aimed at students who want to studymanagement with a marketing ocus. Thisstream teaches strategic marketing conceptsby using a ‘learning-by-doing’ approach.

The Internal Auditing stream is or thosewho want to go into the area o risk, internalconsultancy and corporate governance,a prominent eature o most largeorganisations.

The Strategic Management stream isor those who are looking or a versatiledegree, harnessing strategic issues withan international ocus.

The Entrepreneurship stream is or aspiringentrepreneurs in all sectors who want togain a grounding in developing innovativebusiness ideas, begin their own venture orbecome part o a new, growing business.

In 2002, City University’s Business School

was renamed Sir John Cass Business School

following a generous donation towards

the development of its new building in

Bunhill Row. The School’s name is usually

abbreviated to Cass Business School.

Sir John Cass’s Foundation Sir John Cass’s Foundation has supported

education in London since the 18th century

and takes its name from its founder, Sir John

Cass, who established a school in Aldgate in

1710. Born in the City of London in 1661, Sir

John served as an MP for the City and was

knighted in 1713.
