Michelle’s journey to this artistic fusion of east and westbegan in of all places Indianapolis, IN. Her mother, an artistherself, felt whether Michelle ever became an artist, she shouldunderstand what it was her mother did and explore the magicof creating. And so began an interesting childhood where thepassion and love of art was taught in the same breath as readingand writing.

Her father who was in the textile business took her, as ayoung child, on travels far and wide. Not only did she begin todevelop a palette for the nuances of texture and color in fabrics, but many of the mills were set against backdrops of excitinglocales and international cultures.

After a successful career in the textile business, she movedinto designing three dimensional spaces and environments forselected companies. Blending the form with function.

With only her training as a youth, she began to experimentwith a style of painting and collage. What she soon found was aready gallery market for her unique vision that hinted atovertones of zen, feng shui and mysticism from the Far East.

Her painting, and use of antique embroidered Chinesefabrics, rare coins and talismans, and spiritual mantras such ascollectable Buddhist manuscript pages became the “colors” to a3 dimensional palette this creative artist works with.

Her work is not where east meets west. It is where eastand west become one. The antiquities, scriptures and mysticismof the Far East blend seamlessly with the painting and vision ofthis internationally collected artist to create imagery thatsoothes the senses, works in any environment and can be theportal to the journey of an awakened soul.

Her unique and diverse subject matter has led to a notableand vast group of collectors who many times have becomemultiple collectors of these unique works.

Michelle Samerjan. History being made…again.
