The international rose garden at Sir Thomas and Lady Dixon Park is one of the world’s leading rose gardens, attracting thousands of visitors each year. Rose Week, with its full programme of activities, is a celebration of this spectacular rose garden and is now one of Belfast’s most popular annual events.

Punch and Judy, face painting, balloon modelling, children’s tattooing, magic shows and street entertainment all take place in the playground area. All other activities, unless otherwise stipulated, take place close to Wilmont House. All activities are free.

Daily events Harp music in the Rose Garden, 2pm-5pm.Belfast Parks photographic exhibition 10.30am-5pm each day. Browse amongst some of the photos submitted for the recent Belfast Parks photographic competition, sponsored by John McQuillan (Contracts) Ltd.Belfast City Council, recycling workshop, 1pm-5pmMega slide or bouncy castle near Wilmont House, 1pm-5pm. Mega slide on Monday to Wednesday. Bouncy Castle from Thursday to Sunday. Face painting, balloon modelling and children’s tattooing in the playground area. Times vary each afternoon.Punch and Judy in the playground area, Monday to Thursday at 2.30pm and 3.45pm, and Friday to Sunday at 2.30pm. Competitions in the rose garden. Forms are available from the information marquee, adjacent to Wilmont House, at the following times: Monday from 12noon-8pm, Tuesday to Friday from 10am-8pm, Saturday from 11am-5.30pm and Sunday from 1.30pm-5.30pm.

Refreshments: Tea and coffee is available each day from 10.30am-8.30pm at the marquee in front of Wilmont House. Hot and cold meals are available each day from the Stables Coffee Shop at the lower car park, 9.30am-5.30pm.

Shopmobility Belfast in attendance daily near Wilmont House, 1pm-5pm. Photographic ID and proof of address required to hire scooters, free of charge. It is advisable to pre-bookscooters; call 9080 8090.

On Thursday 24 July a panel of international judges will complete the final judging of the City of Belfast international rose trials. The awards for the winning rose breeders are sponsored by Belfast City Council, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Northern Ireland Tourist Board, The Rose Society of Northern Ireland,Clive Richardson Ltd and Eventsec.

During Rose Week a shuttle bus service direct to Sir Thomas and Lady Dixon Park will operate daily at 20 minute intervals from Stand 1 at Europa Bus Centre. Service commences at 1pm, last bus leaves Europa Bus Centre at 6.40pm. Drop off and collection point at Sir Thomas and Lady Dixon Park is in the upper car park. Return journey from the park commences at 1.20pm and operates every 20 minutes, last bus leaves park at 7pm.

Fares: Adult single fare £1.20, adult day return fare £2. Child single fare 60p, child day return fare £1.

Senior Citizens: free travel available on production of a DRD Senior Citizen Smart Pass to driver. Smart Link Passes and Metro Day Tickets are not valid. For queries on bus service during Rose Week call 9066 6630.

Car Parking is available in main car parks and Rose Week car parks at Sir Thomas and Lady Dixon Park. Where possible, cars will be permitted access close to Wilmont House for the purpose of leaving off elderly/disabled visitors; cars must then be parked in one of the main car parks.
