The Rangers have a reputation of being able to perform under all conditions Many have bad parachute training they are all good swimmers and are at their best in precision ma1middotching In a marching t est over unfamiliar roads they have traveled as many as 66 miles in 58 minutes and under average conditions can do five miles per hour

In the most far-reaching change in the Navy rating structure to be authorized since the outbreak of war 17 new ratings and many new subdivisions of ratings have been established for enlisted pershysonnel

Included in the first category are three entirely new types of ratings -special artificer airship rigger and ships service man-and 14 new grades for ratings already establishde The change brings to a total of 89 the number of special fields of work for which ratings are now available

The purpose behind this expanshysion of the rating structure is to provide better identification and classification of Navy men and women with particular qualifica- 1 tions It is felt that this will en- able the Navy to make more acshycurate placement of personnel thereby increasing the combat efshyficiency of the service

Included in the first category are three entirely new types of ratings -special artificer airship rigger and ships service man-and 14 new grades for ratings already establishde The change brings to a total of 89 the number of special fields of work for which ratings are now available

The purpose behind this expanshysion of the rating structure is to provide better identification and classification of Navy men and women with particular qualifica- 1 tions It is felt that this will en- able the Navy to make more acshycurate placement of personnel thereby increasing the combat efshyficiency of the service

Included in the first category are three entirely new types of ratings -special artificer airship rigger and ships service man-and 14 new grades for ratings already establishde The change brings to a total of 89 the number of special fields of work for which ratings are now available

The purpose behind this expanshysion of the rating structure is to provide better identification and classification of Navy men and women with particular qualifica- 1 tions It is felt that this will en- able the Navy to make more acshycurate placement of personnel thereby increasing the combat efshyficiency of the service
