who is suffering from cerebralpalsy, has authored his auto-biography ‘CP to CP (CerebralPalsy to Counselling Psycholo-gist)’ in English. It was releasedby Dr. T. S. Surendran (ViceChairman, Sankara Nethra-laya) on Sept. 11 in a functionheld at Sivagami PethachiAuditorium (Mylapore).

Kumaran is a resident of 37/19, 12th Avenue, Ashok Nagar.

The first copy was receivedby R. Subasree, his Ph.D guideand Asst. Professor, School ofCounselling, Rajiv Gandhi Na-tional Institute of Youth De-velopment, Sriperembudur.

Kumaran wrote his first au-tobiography in Tamil ‘AnandhaThandavam’ which was re-leased last December.

It received very good reviewswhich prompted him to trans-late it into English.

Kumaran said that the ideafor writing his autobiographywas given by his parents IlangoKumannan and Karpagam. Hesaid that the 132-page book

Sir, About two weeks ago, Chennai Corpo-ration re-topped Raman Street (T. Nagar)with a concrete surface, on top of the previ-ously laid cement road that was patently of anextremely poor quality – after I invokedinformation under the RTI Act. The new sur-face also has several defects. A number oflarge cracks have already developed on theroad. Many of the 2-foot-deep pits dug on theroad margins for the purported rain waterharvesting either have no slabs or the slabshave broken and caved in. The pits not onlypose a danger to unwary motorists but willget filled with water during rains and becomea breeding ground for mosquitoes. The pave-ment laid long ago with interlocking slabshas been damaged by the workers while lay-ing the road. Debris left over after laying theroad which was dumped on the pavement isyet to be removed. All the manholes are yet tobe constructed and these collect water, caus-ing mosquito breeding, besides posing a threatto the life and limbs of the unwary two-wheeler drivers during the nights. I havesought further information under the RTIAct. I am appalled at the attitude of theofficials and counselors of the area regardingthis kind of shoddy work. Dog shows in YMCA(Nandanam) today and tomorrow

Education (333, Anna Salai,Nandanam) since Sept. 12. Itwill conclude on Sunday, Sept.14.

Four championship showsalong with obedience, agility,field, Gundog, Schutzhund (aspecial test for German Shep-herd breed dogs) and four otherspecialty shows are beingheld.

There will be special showsby the dog squads of police de-partment, narcotics divi-sion and railway protectionforce.

According to one of thejudges, the main objective ofconducting these shows is toimprove the quality and bre-eding of pedigree dogs andpopularise some of the fastvanishing breeds (especiallythe Indian ones).

The competition has at-tracted 680 entries compris-ing 57 breeds from all over In-dia.

The events will be judged by12 international judges.
