COMPASS LEARNING
The Brandywine School District is partnered with CompassLearning to provide students and parents with web-based instructional content
from any computer at the click of a button. This content is aligned to Delaware PreK-12 standards. CompassLearning Odyssesy® is a web-based curriculum that delivers interactive, self-paced, challenging, engaging activities that are tied to what your child is learning at school. Activities promote exploration, individual and cooperative learning, problem solving, reflection, and real-world connections. This program will be available during the summer months and we recommend that you go online at least two hours a week. Simply go to: http://compasslearningodyssey.com and have your child logon using his/her username and password. In addition, parents have their own username and password where they can monitor their child's progress and preview activities. Please see the pamphlet that is in Monday Mailbox.
BOX TOPS The box tops winner for the pizza party was Ms. Jording's class. They brought in 1,508 box tops. The school itself collected a total of 12,132 box tops, which means $1,213.20 was raised for the school. Thank you to all the families who sent in box tops. In today's Monday mailbox there is a Ziploc bag for you to use to collect box tops during the summer. Then bring the bag back in the fall. This is for grades K-4. Have a wonderful summer!!!
SUMMER READING: Summer learning loss can be “devastating.” This is what researchers have often referred to as the “summer slide.” The critical importance is that the early development of summer reading habits can play a role in providing the foundation for later success. Public library summer reading programs are one solution to the “summer slide.” Children in library programs benefit academically from story hours, arts and crafts. In addition to public library’s programs, Barnes & Noble also has various wonderful summer reading programs for children. Have a fun and safe summer! Please remember to read, read, read!
2012-2013 SCHOOL SUPPLY LISTS School supply lists for next year will be posted on the Lombardy Elementary School website early this summer. Please go to: www.brandywineschools.org/lombardy. Thanks!
