The lymphatic system has three main functions:

It maintains the balance of fluid between the

blood and tissues, known as fluid homeostasis.

It forms part of the body's immune system and

helps defend against bacteria and other

intruders.

It facilitates absorption of fats and fat-soluble

nutrients in the digestive system.

The system has special small vessels called

lacteals. These enable it to absorb fats and fat-

soluble nutrients from the gut.

INTERACTIONS

The lymphatic system works with

the circulatory system by

transporting WBCs to fight off

invaders.

The skeletal system helps make

WBCs in bone marrow.

The integumentary system helps

prevent invaders from getting in.

1. Lymphocytes protect the body by traveling through the circulatory system, defending against pathogens.

2. Vaccines are used to help the body develop antibodies against pathogens.

3. A part of the lymphatic system is tonsils.

4. Lymph cells are all over the body.

5. The lymphatic system makes white blood cells to defend against pathogens.

6. The lymphatic system plays a key role in the immune system, fluid balance, and absorption of fats and fat-soluble nutrients.

7. As lymph vessels drain fluid from body tissues, this enables foreign material to be delivered to the lymph nodes for assessment by immune system cells.

8. The lymph nodes swell in response to infection, due to a build-up of lymph fluid, bacteria, or other organisms and immune system cells.

9. Lymph nodes can also become infected, in a condition known as lymphadenitis.

10. If lymph nodes remain swollen, if they are hard and rubbery, and if there are other symptoms, you should see a doctor.

The integumentary system is located on the outer part of the body. The

integumentary system is very important to the body with its major functions.

One of the major functions is the integumentary system is the first line of

defense as a barrier against infection. Another major function is how the

system helps regulate body temperature as well as removing excretory

waste such as water and urea, protecting against sun’s UV rays and

producing vitamin D.

The body system the

integumentary system works

with other systems as well.

One of the systems the

integumentary system works

with is the excretory system. It

works with it by removing

cellular waste. Also it works

with the nervous system. It

works with it by controlling

body temperature. And with

the immune system by

preventing pathogens from

entering. If something

happened to your

integumentary system, most

likely you would a lot of

problems considering it is

your first line of defense.

The disorders of the

integumentary system

are psoriasis and

albinism. Psoriasis is an

autoimmune disorder

and a albinism arises

from a complete lack of

pigment on the skin.

A disease of the

integumentary system is

scabies. Scabies are

caused by the action of

tiny mites that burrow

into the skin, and its

typical symptoms involve

an intensely itchy rash in

the finger webs, buttocks,

wrists and elbows.

Proper nutrition, healthy amounts of good-quality drinking water, adequate rest, regular exercise, and stress reduction will help keep your integumentary system healthy. Hair loss and graying are both geneticallycontrolled, but stress can add to both conditions. Exercise and relaxation techniques are proven ways to reduce stress.

Proper daily cleansing of the skin is highly recommended. However, harsh detergents and scrubbing will not make the skin cleaner. In fact, they can injure the skin and cause excessive drying. Greater benefits can be gained by cleaning the skin with gentle soaps or lotions, then applying an appropriate moisturizer to all areas of the body.

2. The integumentary system also helps prevent

infectious organisms from your body.

3. The integumentary system of the upper extremities

4. The integumentary system helps protect your

internal parts!

hair, nails and exocrine glands
