Isododecane (C12 isoparaffin ester) allows for the formation of a linear polymer meshwork that provides a stable foundation for fine particles such as pigments and titanium dioxide providing an unusually smooth texture when applied to the skin. The meshwork is water resistant and rub-off resistant but is gas permeable (breathable).

LYCOGEL ActivesLYCD (Live Yeast Cell Derivative)
Also known as Biodynes, Skin Respiratory Factor, and Tissue Respiratory Factor is a nuclear extract of Saccharomyces cerevisiae after applying heat, UV, or chemical injury stress (Demple, B. 1998, Science 279, 1655).
Extracts include: Tissue Growth Factor beta (TGFb), Interlukin 1a (IL-1a), Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF), heat stress proteins, and other cytokines which are determined by SDS gel electrophoresis.
Cells are lysed using proteolytic enzymes, centrifuged, and the supernatant collected (Fishman, H.M., 2001 HAPPI, July, 42)

Silicone Gel Base Benefits Uniform coverage- polymer complex for
universal color matching (10 shades) Breathability – permeability and coolness Long Lasting – water,rub-off resistant Good vehicle for actives (LYCD, TiDx) Forms a clear, dry, non-tacky meshwork
referred to as a “second skin”

LYCD Benefits Oxygen Consumption – cell
proliferation and collagen and elastin synthesis (Fishman, H.M., 2001 HAPPI, July, 42), (Debelle L, Tamburro AM, Inter J Biochem. 1999; 31: 261-272)
Wound Healing – Beneficial nutrients to area of treatment (Kaplan, J.Z. 1984 Arch Surg 119, 1005-8).
Tissue Regeneration – Fibroblast activity (Lods, L., Scholz, C. Cosmet & Toil, 2000, 115(12) 616), (Meger WH, Ferreira PM, J of Biochem. 1999; 290: 1-13)

Background Initial use by Hollywood makeup artists
because of breathability and being sweat-proof under set lighting (didn’t get on cloths)
Makeup artists volunteer at hospitals for burn victims and notice benefits of ease of application, comfort, coverage, and some healing advantages
Product moves to aesthetic procedures and is available through physicians only
