We are proud to invite you to our upcoming EPCAS Winter General Assembly, which will take place from Friday the 8th of March until Wednesday the 13th of March 2013 in Las Vegas, USA. EPCAS has been invited by Catersource and top Gun to host their Winter General Assembly alongside their events. During our days in Las Vegas we have the opportunity to visit the Catersource Conference & tradeshow and to meet with the top Gun members, the EPCAS equivalent in America.

on Friday March 8th, we will welcome the participants with drinks & bites. on the 9th & 10th we planned the official EPCAS meeting. on Saturday the 9th in the afternoon and the evening, a combined meeting and dinner with top Gun will take place. on Monday the 11th and tuesday the 12th we will visit the Catersource Conference & tradeshow, where you will have the opportunity to join the workshops or attend the presentations of your choice. Please note that the official EPCAS programme ends on tuesday, March 12th.

this trip across the Atlantic offers EPCAS and its members the opportunity to expand its network further and to see the catering world from a different perspective. We sincerely hope you can be a part of this once in a lifetime opportunity.

Catersource top Gun is the EPCAS equivalent across the Atlantic ocean as it is the association in the USA for party caterers. Catersource top Gun currently has 36 of the best caterers in the USA as members.

EPCAS will be hosting their Winter General Assembly alongside the annual General Assembly of Catersource top Gun. on Saturday March 9th 2013, EPCAS & top Gun will have a combined meeting where they will exchange knowledge, trends and facts & figures. in the evening, during the dinner, they can get to know each other on a personal level.

FooD inSPirAtion

EPCAS collaboration partners Arjan de boer and Hans Steenbergen (Food inspiration Magazine & Shoot My Food) have been invited by Catersource to present, for the second time, during the upcoming Catersource Conference & tradeshow. they will give their presentation about “Culinary Globe trotting: A virtual tour of cutting edge catering and event trends” on stage.

Food inspiration Magazine is the trade magazine for foodservice professionals who are in search of innovation and inspiration. this free magazine is published digitally every 3 weeks. trends, culinary inspiration, background interviews, concept-watching and journalistic reports are the points of focus of the magazine. www.foodinspiration.com

QUArtErLY EPCAS Monitor

EPCAS has generated a periodical catering benchmark, the Quarterly EPCAS Monitor (QEM), in order to measure the level of the party catering industry in Europe to help caterers gain valuable insights about their industry. the QEM is based on one of the EPCAS objectives; to create transparency in their line of business.

the QEM is designed for caterers by caterers. After collecting the type of facts & figures the EPCAS members would like to research, EPCAS distributed the first edition of the QEM amongst its members to fill out with help of the QEM Steering Committee; Carl Sacks (US), Pierre Smits (nL), tom Steffen (LU) and Hélène baud (Fr). A second inventory of statistics will be collected in February 2013. the results will be presented in Las Vegas.

PAnEL DiSCUSSion

Catersource has given EPCAS the opportunity to host a panel discussion with EPCAS members during the upcoming Catersource Conference & tradeshow. this panel discussion will allow our members, amongst whom noud van den boer (nL), Frank Wassermann (DE) and toine Manders (EU), to inform the American caterers about issues which are current in Europe. the panel discussion will be led by Warren Dietel from the international Caterers Association.

EUroPEAn PArLiAMEnt & FooD WAStE

our Advisory Council member toine Manders, member European Parliament, has been invited by EPCAS to take part in the panel discussion during the Catersource Conference & tradeshow to discuss the hot political topic in Europe: Food Waste. the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats are petitioning for a legislation to reduce the amount of food wasted within the European Union. During this trip to Las Vegas, EPCAS wants to draw the focus towards the problem of the rising amount of food wasted amongst the American foodservice industry.

‘Food Waste’ is the wasted food which is still healthy and suitable for human consumption. in the European Union alone, nearly 50% of all food in the food chain is wasted (of which 42% at consumer level). this is 90 million tonnes of food every year or in other words 180 kg per person per year. At the same time, 16 million people rely on food from food banks; almost one fifth of the EU population has serious difficulties with getting proper meals daily.

ContribUtion

Due to the length of the upcoming General Assembly in Las Vegas (four overnight stays instead of the usual two overnight stays), EPCAS will ask a contribution of € 765,- per participant. in this contribution the following is included:

• Four nights accommodation in the Mirage Hotel• transport and Food & beverage during the official EPCAS moments• A complimentary full conference registration to the Catersource

Conference & tradeshow worth $869 per company. this includes all the conference education, access to the welcome event on Sunday night, the tradeshow and entrance to the CAtiE/ Spotlight Awards presentation.

• A ticket for the Harmony at Hard rock event on Monday night, worth $199.

Should you want to stay longer in Las Vegas than 4 nights, the extra night(s) should be paid individually. For these nights, you will be able to use the special Catersource rate of $161 + 12% hotel tax (per person per night excl. breakfast). these nights can be booked via the EPCAS Secretariat.
