Learn about the great cultures of India and cruise - for an ‘Experiential Journey’ on the Brahmaputra, one of the great rivers of India - onboard the luxury expedition vessel, MV Mahabaahu.

Mahabaahu have won numerous awards, here are just a few:• National Tourism Award (2015-16) Category: Ministry Of Tourism for Best Adventure Tour Operator• Travel Award 2015, Category: CNBC Awaaz for Best Luxury Cruiseline • National Tourism Award (2011-12): Category - Most Innovative Tour Operator for MV Mahabaahu.

“This leisurely boat journey down the fast-flowing Brahmaputra River in far north-east India is bound to open your eyes and mind to life-changing sights and spell-binding experiences, delivering tranquility and adrenaline in equal measures.”Tricia Welsh, Freelance Journalist

Starting from close to the holy Lake of Mansarovar, located in the shadows of Mount Kailash, in the mystical land of Tibet, is the world’s third greatest river - variously called the Tsangpo in Tibet, the Siang in Arunachal Pradesh, the Brahmaputra in Assam and the Padma in Bangladesh. The Brahmaputra in Assam spans from 3 to 40 km across, flowing under the shadows of the eastern Himalayas with mountains reaching a height of over 7400m. The world’s largest river island, Majuli, is located in its midst. The area along the river is a true natural history paradise. Here you find over 850 different species of birds, freshwater dolphins, and four national parks with abundant elephants, wild buffalo and one-horned Rhinos in the UNESCO World Heritage site, Kaziranga National Park.

India is a land of great monuments and over 1.2 billion people, where every religion prospers in harmony in 19 languages and over 1600 dialects. The people and the cultures of the country offer a diversity of experiences, colours and lifestyles, which is continental in nature. Over the years we’ve walked off many a beaten path:

• Untouched and little-explored regions along the river Brahmaputra while on a luxury cruise, next to the tribal heartlands of Arunachal and Nagaland in the mystical North East.

• Viewing the grand monuments of the ‘Golden Triangle’, like the Taj Mahal (a great monument to love), the Mughal and Rajput Forts and Palaces.

• Into the Indian countryside, to experience the tribal and rural life where 70% of India still lives.

• A journey through the picturesque kingdom of Bhutan, one of the last Shangri-las. This Himalayan kingdom is a preserve of the living history of the Lamaistic Buddhist culture.
