2nd Annual Old Florida Food and Folk FestivalCee Bees Citrus in Odessa an-

nounces the 2nd Annual Old FloridaFood and Folk Festival taking placefrom 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Nov.21st. The festival highlights thecultural legacy of Old Florida witha day of food, art, music, historicalpresentations, documentary screeningsand family fun. In fact,parents are provided with a lot ofamenities including parent and siblingeducation, NICU parent meetings,and even access to a licensed clinical

social worker that is dedicated towomen’s and neonatal services.

Before babies go home, MedicalCenter of Trinity even offers a NestingRoom, which is an overnight room forfamilies who are transitioning from thehospital to home, giving parents theopportunity to practice caring for theirchild’s medical needs while still havingaccess to 24-hour immediate care, ifnecessary.

In a Neonatologist partnershipagreement with All Children’s Hospi-tal, which is affiliated with Johns Hop-kins Medical Institute, Medical Centerof Trinity has been able to establishneonatal care that parents can trust.

Lynn Smith, BSN, RN-NIC,MHSA, the Neonatal Services Man-ager at Medical Center of Trinity,said, “The NICU team is made up ofhandpicked professionals who arequalified to handle the highest risklevel for sick, neonatal babies.” Sheadded, “Hand picking the rightnurses to staff the NICU was incredi-bly important. ‘Right’ is more thanqualifications and experience, it’sabout passion. That’s what I look for

in our medical per-sonnel – employeeswho will providethe most exemplarycare to these babies.”

The NICU is an exciting additionto Medical Center of Trinity’s Obstet-rics unit, which offers private birthingand mother-baby suites, giving fami-lies a safe and secure environmentwhere they can bond with their newchild. The Obstetrics unit has re-cruited some of the most qualifiednurses in our area, including nurseswho are certified in fetal monitoringby the Association of Women’sHealth Obstetrics and NeonatalNurses (AWHONN). With access toanesthesiologists who are specificallyskilled in labor and delivery, as well asa childbirth educator and lactationconsultant, new parents will feel confi-dent in planning to have their babiesat Medical Center of Trinity.
