Tengyue Zhang Saturday September 29 7:30 pm Born in 1993, Tengyue is China’s first Guitar Foundation of America Competition winner, with his 1st place finish in 2017. Tengyue is on a fifty concert tour throughout North & South America, Europe, China and Japan. Amadeus Duo Saturday October 20 7:30 pm Counted among the top-class international guitar duos and receiving enthusiastic reviews from all over the world, Canadian Dale Kavanagh and her German partner Thomas Kirchhoff have made up the Amadeus Guitar Duo since 1991. Edmar Castaneda Saturday November 17 7:30 pm Since arriving in the United States in 1994, Colombian-born harp virtuoso Edmar Castaneda has forged his own distinctive path in music. He brings not only an unfamiliar instrument but a wholly original voice to jazz, branching out into a world of different styles and genres. From Ljubljana’s Philharmonic Hall to Artegna Castle in Italy, Konzerthaus Klagenfurt in Austria and the Hall of the Arts Academy in Berlin, Slovenian classical guitarist Karmen Stendler has appeared in a wide range of venues both as soloist and a member of the Weimar Guitar Quartet. Inspired by the rhythms and melodies of flamenco, jazz, classical, rock and the Balkan region, Goran Ivanovic and Fareed Haque have recorded two CDs together, getting the nod as best acoustic guitar albums from Acoustic Guitar Magazine. Sabrina Vlaskalic Saturday March 23 7:30 pm Sabrina is one of the world’s most beloved concert artists with an exceptionally strong bond with her instrument. Her power of expression lies in a deep understanding of the timbre of the guitar and in profound control over transformations of intensity and character. There are many steel-string acoustic wizards in our local guitar community. The acoustic guitar has evolved to produce a wide array of sounds and styles. Whether six-string, twelve- string, or Dobro, flatpicked, fingerstyle, or slide, standard tuning, open D, or DADGAD, the musicality and variety presented by these local artists will be sure to impress and entertain! Acstic Guitarath Saturday December 8 7:30 pm Celil Refik Kaya Saturday April 27 7:30 pm Born in Istanbul, Turkey, Celil Refik Kaya began the classical guitar at age six. Celil later studied in the studio of Michael Newman as well as private studies with Grammy award-winning guitarist Sharon Isbin and has performed in the most prestigious concert halls and festivals around the United States.
