Smart Investment

Lane Cove population estimates from the Department of Planning, Industry & Environment for 2016 to 2036 predict the population to grow from 37,350 to 52,300. While this total accounts for just 7% of the North District’s growth, the growth rate is the second highest in the District.

Lane Cove has undergone a significant metamorphosis in recent years, with older apartment blocks replaced with luxury modern developments positioned to enjoy parkland and river views, with easy access to amenities such as shops and schools.

A number of infrastructure and community projects and upgrades have helped to transform the suburb and its village, which has become a popular and diverse destination in its own right, attracting out-of-area visitors. These include an upgrade of Lane Cove Plaza and the opening of The Canopy, poised to become Lane Cove’s premier dining and shopping destination. Stage 1 has recently opened, encompassing supermarkets, a village green with an events stage, public artworks and an adventure playground with a water weir, trampolines, vertical climbing nets and more. The Canopy’s exciting dining precinct is expected to open late-2020.

The Lane Cove Aquatic Leisure Centre has been improved, Blackman Park has new synthetic sportsfields and a scout hall and the Waterview Community Centre was built just off Burns Bay Road. Parking opportunities within the village have been expanded and pedestrian links and civic spaces improved. Lane Cove Council is also exploring the potential of creating a Recreation Precinct on the existing site of the Lane Cove Country Club and tennis facility on River Road.

With completion scheduled for 2024, the Sydney Metro City & Southwest railway will deliver a new station at Crows Nest which will significantly benefit Lane Cove residents.
