Set within the walls of Ludlow Castle, Shropshire, the Beacon Rooms is an exceptional wedding venue with a wealth of original features from impressive sculpted friezes on the walls, to four-metre-high ceilings and large carved fireplaces.
Its wonderful, warm atmosphere suits weddings large or intimate, formal or informal, modern or traditional, summer and winter – Civil Ceremonies or receptions that follow a wedding elsewhere, with the option of canapés and champagne in the Beacon Room, or breakfast/meal and dancing in a marquee (marquee additional hire).
With Ludlow Castle as the backdrop, the private Castle House Gardens provide an ideal setting for your photographs – with unsurpassed views over the Corvedale and South Shropshire. It is the perfect venue for treasured wedding-day memories.

Civil Ceremonies and Wedding Receptions
Couples can choose to get married in the castle, or can get married elsewhere and have their wedding breakfast or reception in the castle. There are two licensed rooms within Castle House in which a Civil Ceremony can be performed and there are several churches in Ludlow – St Laurence and St Giles are within easy walking distance of the castle.
For the reception we offer the Beacon Rooms as a venue, or the Beacon Rooms with the addition of a marquee in the gardens. It is a blank canvas, no corkage is charged and there is a wedding planner available for hire to make your day perfect.
The Castle offers a variety of packages.
Civil ceremonies can be held in:The Library, which will seat up to 10 peopleThe Round Chapel inside the Inner Bailey, will take up to 50 peopleThe Beacon Rooms, can seat up to 100 peopleOr you can choose to have the ceremony outside in Castle House Gardens
Followed by a reception in:The Beacon Rooms, which can accommodate 100 people for a buffet or 60 for a sit-down mealThe Beacon Rooms and a marquee in the garden can increase the number to a maximum of 300 people
Be ‘in residence’ in the Castle.Up to 13 guests can stay in our 3 award-winning apartments, providing the opportunity of a pre-wedding get together, taking the worry out of getting to the event on time, and allowing the comfort of a personal space during the day.
The apartments are available for 3, 4 and 7 night stays and we also have mid-week specials for 2 night stays as part of a wedding package. The Prince Arthur and Catherine of Aragon apartment can be part of a wedding package for the larger receptions.
The Beacon rooms are ideal for any type of gathering (e.g. private parties, exhibitions, meetings) with special meeting-room rates for business meetings.
The Parish Church of St Laurence, LudlowBig ideas with grand designs or small, select and intimate – St Laurence’s can do both and many options in between. Whether you have 4 guests or 500, we have choices that can make your day one of the most important in your life.
There are many different spaces within our Greater church:The Lady Chapel is the size of a village church – it can accommodate up to 60 guests and the morning light through its windows makes the atmosphere sparkle.
St John’s Chapel is slightly smaller and can accommodate up to 40 guests. It is a more refined and solemn space, with the elegance of its panelling and the blue and gold of the windows adding majesty to your service.
The Chancel can be a very flexible space – it can accommodate up to 120 guests, but has also been used for wedding parties as private as 4. This soaring, open space is an awe-inspiring area of the church with the gravitas of the wooden, panelled choir area and the inspiring walls of glass that surround the altar.
The Nave is the largest space within the church and can accommodate up to 500 guests, but a family party does not feel lost. A wedding in this part of the church gives you the grand feeling of being married in the cathedral of the Marches.

We can also offer a service of blessing to couples who have been previously married in a civil ceremony, or we can give people the option to renew their vows. We are happy to work with couples to develop a service that marks their special commitment to each other in an unforgettable way.

A family run restaurant with rooms situated only seven miles from historic town of Ludlow and only few steps from Wigmore Castle which once has been the stronghold
of the turbulent Mortimer family. Now it is among the most remarkable ruins in England, largely buried up to first floor level by earth and fallen masonry.

I have been playing the harp for over 15 years and have come to know a range of music, from traditional to modern. Harp music creates an atmosphere of its own and with careful music selection can enhance any occasion.
I can play as guests arrive and seat themselves, as the Bridal Party enter, during the signing of the register and for the leading out afterwards. The harp also creates informal and relaxed background music during a drinks reception or as guests move on to the reception.
