VILLA I558 IN SEGROMIGNO IN MONTE, LUCCA AREA, ITALY

The first records of this villa appear in 1646, then later it belonged to the Orsucci family until 1836,

when it was bought by Carolina Buonaparte, the widow of Gioacchino Murat, king of Naples. Carolina

Buonaparte's bedroom remains intact and is in the noble quarter on the first floor: pictures and

ornaments have remained in their place, as if enchanted. Villa Monfiorito is about 12 kms from Lucca,

is part of the italian Historic Homes and has entirely preserved its architectural heritage from the

restoration undertaken in the XVIIIth century. The domestic staff lives on the premises inside the villa

and are completely available for 8 hours a day, taking care of the cleaning, the laundry service and

waiting at table if required. You can also hire a cook for the preparation of lunch or dinner, with

separate payment for this service. Large grounds surround the villa, which are divided into several areas

with a circular-shaped swimming-pool, and lies in large green area enclosed by the old walls, along with

relaxation areas and large areas for children; the other, larger pool is on the opposite side in an

attractive area of the grounds. The village of Segromigno, with services and shops is about 1 km away,

and the beaches of Versilia about 45 kms. The villa has a laundry service, run only by the domestic staff,

air-conditioning in some of the bedrooms on the second floor, heating, dishwasher, stereo with CD

player, satellite-TV, and internet connection. With the 15 bed solution, the two owners will live in an

independent part of the villa and offer assistance as necessary. In this case, guests will not be able to use

one bedroom, one bathroom and the small kitchen. The main entrance to the villa is from the grounds,

via a flight of steps and a terrace suitable for aperitifs and open-air dinners, and you enter into a large

salon/living-room, furnished with original pieces from the 1700s and two large paintings attributed to

Vincenzo Dandini, a well-known florentine painter around the middle of the 1600s. From the first

door on the left you enter into a living/reading room with period tables and chairs and two large

mirrors; from here you enter the royal bedroom once belonging to Carolina Buonaparte, with precious

furniture and sumptuous materials and air-conditioning, then from the double bedroom you come to

the bathroom with hydromassage bath-tub, a double bedroom with bathroom with bathtub and shower

extension. On the other side of the salon you come to the dining-room with dumb waiter from the

kitchen, and also to a double bedroom with four-poster bed with a small single bedroom next to it, both

of which use a large bathroom with bath-tub; then there is another double bedroom with four-poster

bed which has an external bathroom with bathtub. Down a flight of stairs you come to the ground floor

where you find the large, original kitchen, still mostly intact, another small kitchen, the laundry and a

WC, then still on the ground floor, from a second entrance you come to the rear of the grounds. If you

go up the stairs from the salon, you come to the second floor, where you arrive in a twin bedroom

leading to another twin bedroom with air-conditioning, which share the same bathroom with bathtub

and shower extension. Up another five steps you come to a further twin bedroom leading to another

double bedroom with four-poster bed and air-conditioning, and these too share a bathroom with

bathtub and shower extension.
