I mailed a large envelope several months ago containing all of the instructions and handouts. If you need help completing this training, please contact me As Soon As Possible. I am being told that if this training isn’t completed by September 1, 2015, the training process will begin again (7 hours of training versus 1 hour of training.) I misrepresented the checks as premium checks with my previous email/text. Sorry about any inconvenience this might have caused you. The results from the fair have been handed over to the fair board to begin the process of paying premiums, but I don’t know when those checks will be ready. As soon as I have them, I will send out notification. Fair season is about over. I’d like to thank all of the families that supported the fair this

year in addition to all of the 4-H and FFA members that participated in the fair. Inside

this edition of the newsletter you’ll find results for the static exhibits taken to the State

Fair. Livestock results are not yet available, but I’ll include them in the next newsletter.

This edition will be short but sweet and will still contain some important information.

Leaders: Please complete your yearly training. I mailed a large envelope several

months ago containing all of the instructions and handouts. If you need help

completing this training, please contact me As Soon As Possible. I am being told

that if this training isn’t completed by September 1, 2015, the training process

will begin again (7 hours of training versus 1 hour of training.) I realize this isn’t

a fun process to complete, but I truly appreciate your time and effort.

Sale checks are currently in the office. I misrepresented the checks as premium checks

with my previous email/text. Sorry about any inconvenience this might have caused

you. The results from the fair have been handed over to the fair board to begin the

process of paying premiums, but I don’t know when those checks will be ready. As soon

as I have them, I will send out notification.

Thank you notes

Leader information http://courses.extension.iastate.edu/

As I said on the front page, I really need your help to complete your yearly training. Only 2 leaders attended the training that was held in February. The

online training should only take an hour to complete. The above address is the link to get you started. Go to the page and scroll down close to the end of

the page. You will need to complete “The Heart of Belonging” for this year.

September 1st is the deadline that has been set to complete this task. Please do so as soon as possible. I’ve tentatively scheduled training for the 2015-

2016 year for February 2016.

If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to call me!

Thank you very much for helping me in this matter!

Please take the time to write thank you notes to sponsors of trophies or awards that you won and also to the individuals/

businesses that purchased your livestock at the sale. Most of the trophies have address labels on the bottom. The trophies

that I ordered later didn’t receive the labels, but don’t let that stop you from writing. If you need any addresses to send

thank you’ s, please let me know. Sponsors appreciate the time and effort that you put into these short notes.

Youth Council The first meeting of the 2015-2016 Lucas County 4-H Youth Council will be held on September 14 at 6:30 pm in the

extension office meeting room. All 4-H members in grades 7-12th are welcome and encouraged to join. Last year the

youth council enjoyed a couple of fun outings as well as planned and carried out some great activities for younger

members in the Clover Sprout group. After speaking to several of the members, most if not all, of them are planning

on staying on the council. These members play an important role in the 4-H program for our county. If you have any

questions, please ask one of the current members or feel free to contact me at 774-2016.

Members of the 2014-2015 Youth Council:

Payton Lavender, Faith Hickerson, Clara Stuart,

Grant Goering, Cooper Shelton, Kaden Gray,

Amelia Phillips, Baylee Head, Paige Burgett,

Emily Shelton, Macy Beaty, Mikenzy Beaty

We would also like to include a big “Thank you” to

Madison Briggs, Melissa Goering and Nicole Williams

for helping throughout the year!

SEPTEMBER OCTOBER AUGUST

What’s Happening?

1st: Enrollment for the new

year begins

1st: “Working Togeth-

er” (review of fair meeting)

6:30 pm

14th: Youth Council meeting,

6:30 pm

25th: State Fair exhibits may

be picked up at the extension

office

12th: Record books due into the

extension office

12th: Youth Council meeting,

6:30 pm

Don’t forget to re-enroll after September 1st! We’ll begin our Clover Sprout adventures in January of 2016 again. Any

child in kindergarten through 3rd grade is welcome to join.

If your child is entering the 4th grade this school year, it’s time to advance to a 4-H group. I have a sheet that shares a

little bit of information about each club and what they are active in. Please let me know if you’d be interested in that

information!

Again, the Sprouts will be divided into age groups: K & 1st grades will meet one day and 2nd & 3rd will meet a different

day. This seems to work well and the children are more comfortable with their friends in these age groups!
