The Grand Marshall of this year’s parade is Collin County Sheriff Terry G. Box. Sheriff Box was born in McKinney, Texas and has served in Collin County law enforcement for the past 42 years. Starting out in 1968 with the McKinney Police Department and was appointed to Sheriff by the Commissioner’s Court in February 1985. Sheriff Box operates a state-of-the-art direct supervision facility in Collin County with a total of 1,298 beds. Sheriff Box is presently a member of Na- tional Sheriffs’ Association, McKinney Chamber of Commerce, Plano Chamber of Commerce, McKinney Rotary Club, Ameri- can Jail Association, Texas Jail Association Board of Directors 2004, Past member of Advisory Board of Collin County Children’s Advocacy Center, Past member of Commu- nity Relations Advisory Board, McKinney Job Corps, Criminal Justice Policy Development Committee of North Central Texas Council of Government and Advisory Board for Law Enforcement Television Network, Sec. Board of Directors of Heard Natural Science Mu- seum. Member of Sheriffs’ Association of Texas, 1981-Present; Chairman of Legislative Committee, 1990-91, 1996- 97; Chairman of the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officers Stan- dards Committee, 1993-94; member of Board of Directors, 1994-97; elected 3 rd Vice President, 1998; elected 2 nd Vice President, 1999; elected 1 st Vice President, 2000, elected President, 2001-2002, and Board of Directors 2003. Sheriff Box is a graduate of McKinney High School and attended Grayson County Junior College and Abilene Christian College. Sheriff Box holds a Mas- ter Peace Officer Certificate from Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Standards and Education.

I am hoping that you are making plans to attend the Lucas Founder’s Day, on Saturday, October 30th. The Grand Marshall of this year’s parade is Collin County Sheriff Terry G. Box. Sheriff Box was born in McKinney, Texas and has served in Collin County law enforcement for the past 42 years. Starting out in 1968 with the McKinney Police Department and was appointed to Sheriff by the Commissioner’s Court in February 1985.

2010 Lucas Founder’s Day Parade Route

Mark your calendars now! Our annual Founder’s Day celebration to be held on Saturday, Oct., 30th, is scheduled as follows:

Parade lineup: between 11:00 PM and 1:00 PM

Parade: 1:00—2:00 PM

Food served all afternoon: beginning at 2:00 PM

Trunk or Treat: 6:00—7:00 PM

Fireworks: 7:00 PM

Be ready for a day of fun for the entire family. Come in costume to be eligible for prizes of $25. gift cards for each category: Boys 0-6 yrs, Girls 0-6 yrs., Boys 7-11 yrs., Girls 7-11 yrs, Boys 12-17 yrs, Girls 12-17 yrs, Men 18 & over, and Women 18 & over. Prizes will also be awarded for first and second place parade entries in the amounts of $100 and $50.

As in the past, everything is free. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet your fellow Lucas residents, as well as giving your children an opportunity to participate in safe and fun Hallow-een and Fall festivities. We have a great lineup of booth participants and activities. See you there!
