EN Requests Approval

Feb. 8th 2012

• Meetings being held with stakeholders to understand Goal of activities Time key drivers Support needed

• For accelerator complex: database of requests is being filled : LHC and injectors

To detect conflicts/overloads & to decide what is compulsory, what we can afford &what we have to postpone to LS2

Priorities set for LHC machine– P1: Beam to 6.5-7TeV, nominal performance– P2: Reliable operation– P3: CERN approved projects– P4: no CERN approved projects

• Mauro : “EN-CV upgrade & consolidation”• Francois: “EN-EL upgrade & consolidation”• Erk : “RF upgrade program in LHC injectors

Additional activities, especially those requiring supports from other groups can disorganize the global schedule, and induce delays.

CSCM tests in all sectors will cost around 4 weeks

Page 25: LS1 general planning and strategy for LHC, LHC injectors

K. Foraz - LHC Performance Workshop 2012 25

EN Organization

Feb. 8th 2012

• Schedule & logistics– Lots’of work still to be done in matter of schedule &

logistics for all the other activities w.r.t. skeleton schedule

• Preparation– ECR have to be written prior to works– Modification of the envelope of your equipment ICL– DIMR– Materials have to be ready in due time…..This has often induced

delays !!!

• Follow-up– Weekly coordination and scheduling meeting

Reiner : “QPS upgrade and machine protection during LS1 ” Miguel : “Vacuum upgrade”Laurent: “Cryogenics system: strategy to achieve nominal performance and reliable operation “

Page 26: LS1 general planning and strategy for LHC, LHC injectors

EN Conclusions

Feb. 8th 2012

• Analysis of requests well advanced (LHC & experiments, injectors)

– w.r.t. priorities & resources & time & interaction between groups– New requests will be scrutinized, especially the support form

overloaded groups (VSC, EL, CV)

• “Skeleton” schedules for LHC machine & injectors ready

• Workload is huge and the schedule is tight

• Worksites have to be well prepared. Please do not forget layout, integration & safety
