SUMMIT OVERVIEW

The Global R&D Summit is a flagship event focused on the emerging areas of S&T developments around the world, inviting collaboration from various stakeholders. It is an initiative of the Department of Science & Technology (DST), Govt. of India and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI).

The theme of the 2019 summit is "International Collaboration in Research & Development for Sustainable Growth" with Africa as the partner continent. Over the course of the past decade, FICCI in collaboration with DST has focused on advancing cooperation in S&T between India and Africa through multiple programs, which have helped establish key relationships with more than 45 African countries.

In line with the Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi's vision "Share Technology for Shared Prosperity", the summit aims to reinforce the key role being played by India in South-South Cooperation, especially in the context of enabling low-income countries to utilize Indian tech-led innovation for sustainable socio-economic development.

The Summit is expected to host multiple S&T ministers, senior scientists and entrepreneurs from partnering African countries. With the aim to bring together global players from across the ecosystem, the summit will provide a platform to discuss areas of policy interventions and market dynamics that can drive the S&T/R&D agenda of academics, government and the private sector.
