LRCA LINK FALL NEWSLETTER August/September 2018 • LITTLE RUN CITIZENS ASSOCIATION Labor Day Party at Ilda Pool Members are invited to Ilda Pool for a season-ending party on Sunday, Sept. 2 starting at 6pm where hamburgers, hot dogs, brats, sides and ice cream will be sold. Ken Nottingham will lead his Chapter 11 band in a performance of classic rock of the 60’s through the 90’s beginning at 630pm. Join our neighborhood in saying ‘Goodbye’ to summer and ‘Hello’ to fall. Volunteers are encouraged to help with set up and serving, plus desserts and side dish contributions are always appreciated. Contact Karla Eggert at [email protected] to offer help. Let’s Toast the Debut of our Potluck Social! Join fellow members at the first LRCA Potluck Social on Friday, Sept. 21, 630pm at Dave and Margie Madsen’s house (8921 Braeburn Drive). It will be a Fall Harvest / Wine-Tasting themed- event, so bring your favorite fall dish and/or bottle of wine to share. We hope to offer a social potluck at a member’s home on a regular basis as a fun way to interact and keep in touch with neighbors. Contact event coordinator Margie at [email protected] for details. Apply for a Jim Williams Community Grant Do you have a community improvement project that could use some funding? We’re proud to announce applications are now being accepted for the Jim Williams Community Grants program, named for former LRCA President and long-time neighbor, and benefitting our neighborhood. Keep Watch – Sign up for the Fall Neighborhood Watch Positions are now open on the fall schedule for our Neighborhood Watch. Please consider signing up for a two-hour shift to monitor our community. News from American Disposal After three years without an increase, American Disposal will raise the price of its special rate for LRCA members by $2 per month. The new rate – either $60 per quarter for pickup once per week or $66 for twice per week – will take effect this fall. Do you want to take advantage of the special discount? Call American Disposal at (703) 368-0500 and ask for the LRCA rate.

Community Leaf Collection Survey Interested in getting a great deal on leaf collection this season? We’re trying to find out if members are interested in joining together to find a local company to offer a discounted rate similar to our trash service. Look for a brief survey asking your opinion coming soon. In the meantime, you can contact Todd Skipper at [email protected] to express your interest.
