Carol Allen Named as New CA-NV Deputy Grand Regent

What an honor for Carol to be selected as the new Deputy Grand Regent for the CA-NV Women of the Moose. An honor not only personally for her but also an honor for the Fairfield Chapter. Although Deloris Inabnett who was the 2014-2015 DGR is also a member of Fairfield, her home Chapter is Vallejo, thus this is a first for our Chapter and we are delighted that we can claim her as our own.

Carol joined the Fairfield Chapter in March of 1994 and is now a Life member. She was sponsored 43 women into our chapter and when talking to her you know she really believes in the

Mooseheart mission of helping our children and seniors.

She started her Moose career in 1999 by being our Mooseheart Chairman. That year she earned her Academy of Friendship Degree, receiving it in Feb, 2001. In 2000 Carol was our Chaplain and she progressed through the officers chairs of Jr. Regent, Sr. Regent, and Jr. Graduate Regent. She received her College of Regents Degree in 2005. Since that time she has served as a chairman or been on the board almost every year. She as been Chairman of C of R, PEP, Star committees , and currently is Audit chairman. In 2006 she was Secretary/Treasurer, and start-ing in2009 she was our Recorder for 5 years in a row, receiving her Star Recorder Degree in July 2011.

Aside from all of that she was on our award winning competing Ritual team as the Senior Regent. Carol then served a year as WOTM State Ritual Chairman just prior to that program being suspended. She has been a real asset to our Chapter and fraternity and now has the opportunity to make a difference at the CA-NV State level.

Carol will be installed as the new DGR for CA-NV at our Annual Convention held in Reno in September. We will be celebrating her at a reception held at the Fair-field Lodge on Saturday Oct 10, 2015, so hold that date.

Fellowship Degree at the Moose International Conven-

tion in Nashville. As injured as he was ,he made the trip to

receive this much deserved Degree. Look for him to be

sporting a new Blue Jacket soon at all our events.

Thank you, to all the dedicated LOOM members who

are serving on the Board and as Chairmen this year. It

is appreciated. Anyone wishing to be on a committee

please call the Lodge at 707 422 3245 or Bob at 707

208 3741. New people = new ideas = more fun!

As you can see the structure of the Women of the

Moose Officers and Chairmen has changed a great

deal for this year. We now only have 5 elected Of-

ficers, the Jr. Regent has assumed the duties of the

Chaplain. We are reduced to 4 Chapter Develop-

ment chairmen and they are each responsible for 2

or 3 months. All the higher degrees are combined

into one committee—Higher Degree—but each de-

gree (A of F, C of R, and Star) will hold their separate

meeting and honor that particular degree. We will

all be working together to make this another suc-

cessful year for our Chapter.

Thank you to all the co-workers who have stepped

up to take a position.

Golden Poppy Council of

Higher Degrees

The purpose of the Council of Higher

Degrees is to be actively involved in the

retention of Lodge, Chapter and

Moose Legion members. It also promotes and sup-

ports the programs of Moose Charities.

The Council of Higher Degrees consists of:

Loyal Order of Moose: Pilgrim Degree of Merit, Fel-

lowship Degree of Honor, and Moose Legion Degree of

Service.

Women of the Moose: College of Regents, Star Record-

er Degree and Academy of Friendship.

Next meeting will be Saturday October 17,

2015 at the Fairfield Lodge. This will be our nom-

inations and election meeting. Let Norrie Gardiner

an officer or chairman. We need new interested folks to

Members and guests are invited. Executive meeting is

at 11:30am, General meeting at 12:00 noon, followed

by a light lunch and social time.

A special thank you is in order for our members for their generous support to Moose Charities. With-out your generosity and selfless efforts to support Mooseheart, our Child City and Moosehaven, our City of Contentment, our children and senior members would not enjoy the quality of life they so richly need and deserve. Fraternity wide we have raised over $10,285,000 for the Mooseheart School renovation project. BUT we still need $1,016,083 to finish paying for this won-derful project. Each fraternal unit needs to continue to make donations I would like to thank all of our members for their generous donations to the Mooseheart/Moosehaven Endowment Fund. We have already remitted $412.00 to Moose Charities for the 2015-2016 fiscal year. As always there are Mooseheart/Moosehaven Endowment Fund receptacles in the Social Quarters and Dining room to receive contributions. COMMUNITY SERVICE The Moose Fraternity is well known through-out the United States, Canada and United Kingdom for its service to our communities. It might involve special events, donations or just a simple gesture of helping someone in need. Whenever and wherever the need we step up and make our presence known. The Fairfield Moose Family Center hosts Com-passionate Friends on the second Thursday of each month from 7pm-9pm. We also host the Solano County Genealogical Society on the first Saturday of each month at 9:00am. For the last 2 years Moose International has sched-

uled Community Service projects at the International Conferences, the second being this July In Nashville this year. This involved food and clothing collections, blood drive and others events to assist the local area. This shows our host cities that we do care about them and are willing to work toward that end. When you receive your Moose Magazine please read the excel-lent articles about Community Service around our country. You will gain better insight on how im-portant Community Service is to our fraternity. One of the endeavors we perform to help our Mooseheart School is BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION. Please cut them off grocery packages when you see them and bring them to the Administrators office or a Women of the Moose board member. And we will get them to the coordinator for this program. This past year Moose Charities received $13,453.40 from this program so it is well worth the effort of collecting them.

Carol Allen of Fairfield Chapter #1379 received her ap-

pointment as the Incoming 2015-2016 Deputy Grand Regent for California/Nevada. Congratulations and well done to Carol. We did not receive the Premier Lodge Award this year due to membership production/retention. We did not achieve our goals of increasing members over the previous year. There was an upside for our Membership Committee however. Three of our members earned distinction in the 25 club by sponsoring 25 new or former members. They are Michael Harless, Carl Pul-len and Charles Early. Congratulations and well done to these members of our Lodge. I just received notification from Moose International that Arlen Helton attained 50 years of service in the Loyal Order of Moose. This allows him to receive a Life Member-ship in the Order. Congratulations are in order for Brother Hel-ton on achieving this prestigious honor. Please read our membership information posted in the Lodge. Our new membership campaign is “MOOSE – BUILD OUR FOUNDATION.” Talk Moose to your friends, relatives and associations and help us build our membership. If you have sponsored members, keep in contact and encourage them to renew membership each year. Keep us strong and viable. Interna-tional Conference Women of the Moose

and the 49th

International Conference Moose Legion. In attendance, we were represented by Governor Bob Keller and Peggy Duncan, Senior Regent Kathy Rose and Mem-bership Chairman Ken Rose, Administrator Norrie Gardi-ner and Ida Gardiner, Don and Carol Allen and Delores Inabnett. The Gaylord Opryland is one huge complex. I heard it was the largest hotel without a casino. There must be a hundred ways of getting lost and I found all of them. There were many cocktail lounges, restaurants, shops and other assorted venues. It is a beautiful complex and well worth seeing. We attended a concert at the Grand Old Opry which was exciting. Several of us attend-ed the finals of the first annual Karaoke contest. That was an incredible experience. So much talent on the stage and well worth the experience. Two of our members received special recognition. Our Fellows attended the Conferral Ceremony of the Fel-lowship Degree of Honor. Our own Governor, Bobbie Keller was in attendance and received the Fellowship De-gree. He is our new Baby Fellow and will be honored at our 51

st Anniversary celebration on November 14

Hello Members of Fairfield Chapter, Women of the Moose:

OMG! Just got back from Nash-

ville International Convention! Yee Haw! You cannot imagine the energy in a room filled with 3,000 plus Women of the Moose for the 103

rd International WOTM Convention! The

speakers and special guests were spectacular and if you have never been to a convention, I would highly recommend you try it! Barbara McPherson, Grand Chancellor and Sandy Thompson, Grand Regent, both gave very moti-vational speeches. Scott Hart, Director General, also gave a great speech. The best news is that Carol Allen was announced as our new Deputy Grand Regent for CA/NV! Congratulations, Car-ol!

The Rib Feed in June was Fantastic! The ribs are out of this world! In fact, if you missed the rib feed, you’re in luck. Ken Rose will be BBQing ribs again at our annual Picnic, Aug. 29, so come on down! We will also be having a bake sale and the Women of the Moose will be serv-ing Hamburgers and Hot Dogs earlier in the day.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the Quilt Raffle. Monica Thompson was the lucky winner! The Father’s Day Breakfast went very well, thank you to everyone who helped out. The Silent Auction was a hugh success, thank you, Peggy Duncan, for a terrific fundraiser for the Community Service Committee.

Also coming up in August is an Ice Cream So-cial on Aug. 13, at 6:00 pm, perfect for these hot summer days! We will be having a little change up from our usual September Wednes-day foods. September 16, will be a Grilled Ham and Cheese with Cole Slaw and September 30, look for a Baked Potato Bar. Always check in the Moose Lodge for up and coming events that may not have made the bulletin. You never know!

Also in September will be our Star Recorder Chapter Activity meeting which will be held on our regular meeting night of Tues Sept. 8th.

Other chapters will be invited as well as all our LOOM officers and all our members. Hope you can make it.

Also Sept. 10—13 is the CA-NA Annual Confer-ence held at the Atlantis in Reno. All the infor-mation is out there on ca-nvmoose.org web site. It is a fun time and an opportunity to get renewed dedication to our fraternity. All mem-bers are encouraged to attend. We are hopeful that our Jr. Graduate Regent Patti Flanagan will be receiving her “Green Cap” honor on Sunday Sept. 13th

GOVERNOR’S CORNER Howdy, We’re all back from Nashville. We had a good time there, went to the Grand Ole Opry show and it was great. Got to have some of that Southern

Hospitality food like fried green tomatoes, fried bologna sandwich, gravy so thick you cut it with a knife, smoked everything—catfish, gator, frogs legs etc, Yum Yum! Country music was every-where. I would like to stay at least another week and rent a car. I will go back for a vaca-tion soon! I love going to Convention. I always come back feeling renewed after all the meet-ings and workshops. OK on to business. Our annual Rib Feed on June 6th was a sold out event. Thanks to Ding and Crew, servers, dishwashers and everyone who helped and attended. It was delicious and there’s nothing better than the smell of BBQ Ribs “cooking smoky” Oh Yeah! We also hosted the Boy Scouts of America Pan-cake Breakfast Fundraiser. It went most excel-lent. This is one of the many things we do for our community. This is what we are all about. Thanks Charley and Crew. Good Job. Don’t ever forget what the Moose is all about. We support many projects in our community and Mooseheart and Moosehaven where im-provement always need to done. Everything gets out of date sooner or later.

We are getting closer to doing improvements to our Lodge and we did apply for the Grant from Moose International. We will see on that one, fingers crossed.

Last year I asked for donations of $100 for the year. We received 16 donations that added up to $1300. Is this what you think of your Lodge? Some say they want to see improvements first! Remember, you can’t buy anything with only air in your pocket. I know a lot of members never come to their Lodge, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t need repair because it does! I know eve-ryone can spare a $100 over a year and I’m talk-ing all Moose members, LOOM and WOTM.

This really makes me sick that only 16 people care about our Lodge. Is this what we’ve come to? Only a select few out of all our members will-ing to help? We have approximately 550 Lodge and Chapter members and only .029% (not even 3 %) donated after their Governor asked them to! All I hear is when are the Improvements com-ing? Soon I hope, is all I can say! To those who donated, THANK YOU and your money is secure in an account earmarked for the Floor Fund. The other money on the wall chart is from vari-ous fundraisers and is now up to approximately $4500.

You have my word that all mon-eys donated will go to the floor first and to other improvements only after the floor is complete.

LOOM #861 Continues Membership Promotion

Hello members! It's that time again to ask for everyone's efforts to increase our member-ship. Membership is the Life's blood of our Lodge. At the International Convention, the emphasis was on retention of existing mem-bers. As we lose more and more of our mem-bership to events beyond our control, it's im-portant that we focus not only on signing up new or former members, but to continue to find ways to retain members and attract new ones.

The first Monday of every month, except Sep-tember, it will be the second Monday, will con-tinue to be Orientation Night. Please, even if a person hasn't signed up yet, bring them to ori-entation, so that we can explain the Moose fraternity in more detail. It might convince them to join.

Lodge Moose Legion Committee (LMLC) As you can see the name has changed for this Committee . There has always been confusion over what MLAC (Moose Legion

Activities Committee )really did. The new name is to help people realize that it is a local Lodge committee and they work to benefit OUR lodge, not just Moose International. The Moose Legion is known as the Degree Service

and our mission is to have fun while providing greater service to the Moose Fraternity. Our vision is to provide all qualified lodge members to join the Moose Legion, and do some good things for someone each day. To be eligible for the Moose Legion, a lodge member has to have six months of active service in the Order OR sponsor a new or former member into the Order. The annual dues are cur-rently $15.00. Application fees have been waived by Twin Rivers #207. If you are interested in joining with us, please talk to Norrie Gardiner, Charles Early and myself. The Fairfield LMLC meets on the second Monday

of each month at 7:00pm, meals are provided every Mon-day by the Moose Legion from 5:30pm-7:30pm. We are in need of cooks to take a Monday during the month to in-sure every Monday is covered without burning out our existing cooks. The Moose Legion is known for active support to the fraternity with many special projects at Mooseheart, Moosehaven and our communities. The Moose Legion is valuable to the Moose Fraternity and all that we try to ac-complish. With the help of the members of our order join-

ing with us and becoming Moose Legion-naires, while supporting everything that we

do we will truly be successful.
