Greetings from your Governor
Another busy month has come and gone, we had several fun events in August. Thank you to all who helped make the events successful and those who come out to support our mission. I have seen many new faces around the lodge and appreciate you invit-ing your friends and family to join. Invite someone for a Wednesday or Friday night for a home cooked meal They will want to come back! We have a host of good cooks who volunteer in the kitchen. Check the calendar for things going on in September including the Moose Rider’s SPAM cook-off and our FSU football parties. Congratulations to Lura and Pam for winning the Queen of Hearts! I hope everyone stays safe during this unpredictable storm Dorian. See you at the Lodge! Fraternally, Carl Crayton Governor

With September brings football and the football parties at the lodge. Bring a covered to share and enjoy an adult beverage with your friends!
On September 7th the Moose Riders are hosting the second annual SPAM cook-off. They will be a chance to will a lottery gift basket worth $200.00, a 50/50 drawing and door prizes. Come on out and enjoy some delicious dishes made with SPAM. Don’t forget we have bar bingo every Monday and Thursday at 5:30. Stop by after work for a cold drink and a game!
Fun Fact Did you know Labor Day became a federal holiday in 1894 because workers felt they were spending too many hours and days on the job working 7 days a week, 10 hours a day. These long working hours caused many union organizers to focus on winning a shorter 8 hour work day and a 6 day work week.
Happy Labor Day!

Greetings from the Women of the Moose
September is here and that brings cooler weather and anticipation for football and Fall happenings! Come on in and enjoy what’s go-ing on at the Lodge. Don’t miss another opportunity to enrich your life and get to know the people and mission of the MOOSE. Last month, Dawn Mackland’s celebration of her and her achieve-ments was outstanding. I got to learn more about her (and saw how she rocked that red dress, I might say!). Go Dawn! Also, Ca-sino night was a huge success! I can’t say enough about the Mooseheart/Moosehaven Committee led by Sue Poppell that went above and beyond put on a great event. Many thanks to the sponsors and volunteers who made it a success. Coming up, we will have a joint (Women and Men) new member orientation on Wednesday, September 25. Come for dinner, then join us at 7:15 pm in the ballroom to better understand what the MOOSE is all about. We have lots of new members in the WOTM and the LOOM so please come as you are and have a fun time learning about what we do and why we do it. Please welcome the following new Women of the Moose members: New Member - Sponsor Brittany Gocker - Sue Zuniga Lisa Sims - Karen Bain Wanda Smith - Carl Crayton Maria Ham - Donna Gandy Rosemary Rauich - Susan Michaels Danielle Peterson-Thomas - Tina Crayton Renita Barkley - Nancy Gebhart Eileen Campanale - Elizabeth Doll Donna Green - Lisa Metcalf Casey Sanders - Carl Crayton

Other news and upcoming events: The Higher Degree is putting together a calendar. You are invited to purchase calendar entries (remembrances, birthdays, anniversaries, etc.) Please see Linda White about getting your special days into that calendar. Thanks to all that supported the Book/Media sales event. I know I got a bag full of books to last me until Christmas! Don’t forget that next month is Breast Cancer Awareness month. As a survivor, I know this is important! Please join the WOTM team for Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk on 10/20 and/or donate online. See Tina Crayton for more info and, gentlemen, start your en-gines and get ready for the 4th Annual Battle of the Bras!! We will be having a Pork Chop dinner on Friday the 13th and the Higher Degree will be cooking Hamburger Steak with mashed pota-toes and veggies for the 9/20 dinner. Lastly, please join the Women of the Moose chapter meetings on the second and fourth Monday’s of each month at 7:00pm in the ball-room. We always have a great turn out and would love to get to know you! The October 14th meeting will have a special time for giving to Mooseheart and Moosehaven in preparation for the holidays. It’s called the “Monetary Gift Walk”. Our donations ensure a special gift will be provided to the kids and residents we support. So, tuck some money back today to be ready to give next month. Warm Regards, Lura Wiley Senior Regent
