CHURCH FAMILY NEWS

Dear LUMC,

The contribution you gave over the holidays made a difference in the lives of those we serve. It has been very rewarding to watch our children smile over the everyday joys

many of us take for granted.

Over the Christmas Holidays we were able to spend a day with one of our college

students, Felicia. Hearing her describe what United Methodist Children’s Home (UMHC) has meant to her at a worship service was truly moving. Felicia said UMCH

is her family, UMCH cares, and it is reassuring to have the love of the UMCH

staff. Because of you this is possible.

A quick update on some of our Knabe Scholars now that they have their first semester

of college behind them:

Mitchell excelled in all his classes with the highest GPA. He also won the award of “Achiever of the Month” from his university’s Student Support Services.

Alana was able to juggle a very intense course load while working at the local

hospital admitting ER patients. William accepted his first job at Jerry’s Cleaners in Tuscaloosa.

Because of your thoughtfulness, the foundation of a stable and loving home is being provided to kids like Felicia, Mitchell, Alana and William Please help us continue to

provide for kids and families who need our guidance. Happy New Year and many

blessings for 2014, Dr. K. Blake Horne, President & CEO and Rebecca Morris, VP of

External Affairs.

B Blessed,

Rev. Jim

The Loxley United Methodist Women would like

to invite you to our next meeting will be Monday– March 17, 2014 @ 6:30 pm in the

help.

President), Beth Henson (Secretary), (Spiritual Growth), Deloris Dyess, Dianne McCrary (Programs) or Barbara Davis (Treasurer).

UMW President Pam Knight

Please check out our youth meetings on Wednesday Nights after Dinner!

There is always something going on with the youth!

Please help support our youth as this is a growing part of our Church Family!

Chelsea Knight is our weekly Nursery Attendant. Please feel free to

take advantage of this service. Chelsea is here every Sunday

morning beginning at 7:30 am. If you would like to help out, please

let her know she can always use an extra set of hands.

Men ’ s group will have their monthly meeting on the 3rd Monday of the

month. Please plan on attending and joining the men as they make

plans for the many activities they have ahead for the holidays.

"Loxley UMC Youth sink to new lows to help around the church"

This is Eric Hall coming out from under the platform in the sanctuary after running cables for a new projector. Eric did a perfect job in a very tight, dark, place .

Thank you Eric.

Remember we are still paying on our building loan for the

Family Activity Center. This is a 2nd mile giving.

The food pantry is getting very low. We need the following

items especially: canned meats, drinks for kids, max &

cheese, Vienna sausages, jiffy cornbread, roman noodles,

instant potatoes, and individually wrapped packs of crackers.

As always your prayers are greatly appreciated.

Do you remember this challenge from Emma Waltman?

Collecting cans and turning them in for cash is a way to get

money for our mission programs.

Please keep an eye out for our Haiti Fundraisers. Lets make

our first Mission trip one to remember.

THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND….. Sunday Evening Bible study going on now every Sunday Evening at 6pm. Confirmation classes are going on now, please pray for our young members as they complete this important part of their growth as a member of the Loxley United Methodist Church. Together with 1st Baptist Church of Loxley, we are collecting school uniforms for Loxley Elementary to be housed at their church’s clothes closet. Just another ministry in our church that helps the needy in our community. GET YOUR YARD SALE ITEMS TOGETHER. April 12th there will be a yard sale at MANE STREET along with a car wash. This will fund our Haiti Mission Trip, so lets bring in lots of goodies to sell. This will also be the weekend of the Strawberry Festival, so lets take advantage of this location and many thanks to John Chappell for letting us use his location!
