MISSION
The Lower Polk Alleyways District Vision Plan is meant to create a vision and roadmap for a next generation of public space in the Lower Polk neighborhood, based on community input and a needs assessment.
The Plan will be used by the Lower Polk neighborhood over the next 5-10 years to direct site-specific long-term, larger-scale projects and short-term, temporary projects in the Lower Polk Neighborhood Alleyways.
GUIDING GOALS• Enhance the unique character of the neighborhood
and strengthen its identity.
• Foster community pride and stewardship.
• Prioritize the pedestrian experience.
• Increase social interaction through arts activities.
• Promote sustainability through opportunities for storm-water infiltration and planting.
• Create a well-integrated and interconnected system of alleys.
• Create distinction among the Alleyways.
WHY DO WE NEED AN
• Provide guidance for future development.
• Identify priorities and phasing.
• Build neighborhood and community consensus.
• Identify resources and leverage partnerships.
• Establish a cohesive basis for funding sources.
• Create a dynamic expression of the neighborhood’s identity.
