GLOSSARY TREND TERMS OF THE SEASON

CUT OUT | As the name suggests, cut

out involves removing fabric from an item

or adding small, but decorative details. Cut

outs add subtle embellishments to an outfit

and are very popular this Spring.

FFRINGES | Fringes are great decorative

additions to items and add a playful tone.

Fringes are always the same length, and can

be made of leather or fabric.

CCOPPER | A soft, lightweight and malleable

metal, copper is best know for its use in

coins and for piping. However, copper's

beautiful tone makes it hugely popular this

Spring for home accessories and jewellery.

CROPPED | This Spring, fashion has

taken the scissors to key items, shortening

the arms and overall length. What's left is the

height of urban chic and perfect for Spring

and Summer days. Cropped items have a

long fashion history and are experiencing

a comeback as fashion experiments with

contrasting lengths.

HIGH WAISTED BELT | Celebrating

a comeback this season: the high waisted

belt. Directing the eye to the slimmest part of

the body accentuates the classic hourglass

silhouette.

LLEATHER | Whether real or artificial,

leather is a key material this Spring –

particularly popular in combination with

gentle fabrics or in pastel colours for delicate

accessories and bags.

MMACRAME | Dating back to the 13th

century, macrame is seeing a revival. Knot by

knot new patterns and ideas develop, which

sees macrame being used for carpets, plant

holders and bracelets. Macrame comes in

all shapes and sizes - from delicate threads

to robust yarns.

RADIANT ORCHID | The colour of

the year 2014 stands for confidence and

creativity. Inspired by orchid blossoms, the

warm combination of fuchsia, violet and pink

brings a certain joie de vivre to any outfit.

RAINBOW QUARTZ | Glistening in all the

colours of the spectrum, quartz is perfect for

eye catching jewellery. Tiny pockets of air in

the stone refract light and put on a gleaming

show of colours for any wearer or admirer.

ROSE GOLD | Gold with a copper

alloy, is also known as rose gold and can

vary in colour from a gentle pink to a rich

red. The lower the copper ratio, the higher

the value of this beautifully warm metal.

TTRANSPARENT | Porous fabrics allow

a game between light and shadows to be

played this season and are something

to be celebrated. The gentle elegance of

transparent fabrics is strengthened when in

combination with robust, thick fabrics like

leather.
