His son's words prompted him to spend the week of Thanksgiving with

other volunteers from around the globe on the small island of Bohol,

working together to bring some relief to the beautiful people of the

Philippines. Waking at 5am to grab a quick breakfast and head out for

ten hour days clearing rubble to make room for rebuilding, the days were

long, strenuous and rewarding. Steve writes in his blog, “I am bruised,

sore, tired and so completely energized.” His week in the Philippines

is chronicled by observations and photographs in an online blog. He

reflects as he heads back home to Marin, “I have had the privilege to

see people who lost what little they had, behave with integrity, warmth

and humor. I hope that when I face loss in my life that I too can have

the courage and strength to exhibit these characteristics. This truly

was a gift to be most thankful for.”

You can read more about Steve’s experience at

Last November, Steve Fox (our CFO) traveled to the Philippines to assist with earthquake relief. His experience began with a simple, direct statement from his son,

“...Dad, We should do something to help them..."

breathebelievereceiveBreath is constant, the one unifying

experience that is with us throughout

our lives. Breath is the first aspect

of meditation, it is by concentrating

on our breathing that we can connect to

the silent wisdom within us. Diffusing

essential oils invites us to breathe in

the ethereal properties of plants,

allowing them to become a part of us.

Each essential oil is a reminder, an

intention, a direction. Rose is

balanced passion, jasmine is loving

sensuality and ylang ylang is our

reminder to love love itself… Breathe

in the scents, believe in their power

and receive the gifts they bring.

The three flowers of love; rose,

jasmine and ylang ylang entice us with

their scents. Rose reminds us that

balance is the basis of true love, its

bright smell brings us to a place of

confidence in our passion. Jasmine’s

sensual smell infuses us with a warm

calm and reminds us that love is in

the very air we breathe. Ylang ylang,

whose name means flower of flowers, is

our reminder that our attention is

captured by passion and focuses our

hearts on the object of our desire.

Brought together, these three powerful

essences become a potion for love.

Breathe in the flowers...believe that

which you love is already

yours...receive balance, love and

passion into your heart.

Plants are the basis of all life on this planet and humans have

co-evolved in synergy with them. Our symbiosis with plants

allows our bodies to incorporate their healing properties

naturally. Our team here at EO created a body lotion purely

from plant extracts with this relationship in mind.

Our chemists have developed a lotion that is uniquely effective.

Oat derived betaglucan boosts our immune systems naturally,

and has a firming and soothing effect on our skin. Rice

proteins penetrate skin deeply, strengthening and diminishing

fine lines. The powerful antioxidants found in vitamins A and E

improve elasticity. Mango seed butter moisturizes and creates

a protective barrier against the elements that dry out our skin.

Organic jojoba oil conditions skin and organic calendula,

chamomile and white tea botanicals bring harmonizing

balance. Every bottle of our lotion is specially formulated from

pure plant extracts to give you beautiful skin.

Your skin holds you every day...Give it a healing embrace every

day by smoothing in EO body lotion and love.

EO is essential oils, and the most beautiful melody in the symphony of a perfect lotion is scent. Our essential oils give our lotions not just their healing properties but their incredible scents. These essential oils have been paired with intention and beauty to create an aromatherapeutic experience every time you use them.

Ingredients We Love:Mango Seed Butter is rich in antioxidants and emolients, easily absorbed into skin and deeply hydrating. Mango seed butter penetrates deep, easing signs of sun damage and age for youthful, radiant skin.

Oat Betaglucan promotes collagen production and reduces fine lines and wrinkles. This oat derived, soluble fiber leaves skin softer, smoother and younger looking.

Organic Aloe Vera was called the “plant of immortality” by the ancient Egyptians. Aloe vera has a high concentration of antioxidants such as beta keratine, vitamin C and E which firm and hydrate skin.

Using body lotion every day has more than an immediate effect on your skin, the accumalative effects of daily moisturizing actually reverse signs of aging. In winter months, moisturizing becomes more important as the elements conspire to dry out our skin. Making a lotion a part of your daily routine or beauty regimen will not just leave your skin touchably soft, but younger looking.

Your face, it’s how you take in the world and how the world identifies you. Taking care of your face is kind of a big deal. Research has shown (and mom has always told you) that you need to wash your face. Any daily skin regime begins with cleansing away the daily buildup of toxins that accumulate on our faces.

Ok, we don’t mean to embarrass you, but we have to talk about the dirt on your face. The skin on our faces goes through the harshest use of any other skin on our bodies. Men hack at it with razor blades, women cover it with makeup and kids… well, kids just like to get dirty. We touch our faces with our hands (often covered in food, dirt and who knows what else), we expose our faces to the elements and we use our facial muscles all day long, every day. All of this adds up to a dirty face, and no one likes that.

In order for new skin cells to emerge (making us youthful and happier) our pores have to be clear of dirt, toxins and dead skin cells. Our pores also allow our skin to breathe, keeping them open allows for oxygen to enter our skin and keep it healthy. So, a daily skin regime is a necessary part of having a happy face.

There’s five basic parts of any effective skin regime; cleanse, exfoliate, tone, moisturize and remove build up. The why breaks down like this:

cleanse: removes oils, dirt and dead skin cells which clears pores making room fornew, healthy skin cells to emergeexfoliate: really gets in there and loosens up all the dirt and dead skin cells that are a little harder to removetone: evens out skin by soothing any inflamation or redness that may occur after all that scrubbingmoisturize: replaces the oils that your skin needs that may have been removed in the cleaning process and helps reduce fine lines with daily use. remove: wipe away makeup and other build up that occurs throughout the day to keep skin happy and healthy.

There’s more than one way to put your best face forward, but they all start with clean skin. Hey, it’s your face, and you just got the one. Keep it happy, healthy and youthful with a daily facial routine.

Informed by a Rose...Nestled amidst thorns and red green leaves is a flower that draws us in. Its petals seem to dance inward, curling into the golden center. It invites us to breathe in and ohhh, the scent. Our hands want to cup the flower to allow us to get closer to that beauty. There is nothing like a rose.

“I bloom in gladness, because I cannot do otherwise.”

Hans Christian Anderson, The Snail and the Rose Tree

No single flower has captured hearts and imagination like the rose. Throughout history this captivating flower has spoken for us when mere words would not suffice. No other flower has carried such powerful messages, the rose has been the ambassador of our hearts. From apologies to appreciation to devotion, the rose speaks of love in all its forms.

Roses are nearly 35 million years old, and their place in history is as colorful as the blooms themselves. They have symbolized opposing factions in war, used as confetti and perfume and even traded as currency. Our culture is saturated with the symbolism of the rose. The term sub rosa or “below the rose” which means to keep a secret originated in the classical era where Romans would place a rose outside of a meeting room where sensitive matters were being discussed.

Rose essence inspires passion and restores balance. In aromatherapy, rose essential oil is used to elevate moods, and who could be sad with the smell of roses everywhere? Rose is often used to calm irritated skin and may be helpful for women experiencing hormonal imbalance. Rose essential oil can be helpful with respiratory distress, and may calm breathing with its potent aroma.

Rose essential oil has long been viewed as precious, for it can take up to 65 pounds of rose petals or the equivalent of 60,000 roses to create just one ounce of rose essential oil. Rose essential oil is decadent alone or combined with jasmine, ylang ylang, lavender, clary sage, sandalwood, peppermint or citrus oils.

“Tell me, is the rose naked / or is that her only dress?” Pablo Neruda, The Book of Questions

Today we are changing

When we started on this adventure 20 years ago, we had one line of products: EO. Now, with Everyone, we are reaching more people in more places than we ever have before. We love EO - it’s our baby - and it’s the right name for a one product business. Since we introduced the Everyone line, we’ve grown as a company and in the process we’ve outgrown our name.

With this name change, we are reaffirming our commitment to what kind of company we want to be going forward - a company rooted in essential principles of doing the right thing and holding fast to the values that have made us who we are.

We’ll continue to develop the best natural products we can.

We will continue to manufacture in Marin.

We’ll continue to treat our extended circle of distributors, brokers, and customers as part of our family.

Calling ourselves Small World Trading Co. will allow us to have a bigger voice in this industry and to lead by example. We want to show the rest of the world how you can create a business that makes great products and serves the greater good.

The name on the door will change. The intention behind what we do never will.

-- Susan & Brad
