Four Winners Jetting Off to VegasViva Hot Vegas Second-Chance Drawing Held Nov. 7

Four lucky players will soon be flying off to Las Vegas,

thanks to a special promotion of-fered by the Iowa Lottery.

Dave Dormire of Davenport, Rick Koshatka of Spill-ville, Nick Ohl of Dow City and Robert Simpson of Mason City won trips in the Iowa Lottery’s “Viva Hot Vegas” promotion. Players could enter the second-chance drawing by making a $5 or more Hot Lotto purchase on one ticket and sending in an entry form printed off at the lotto terminal at the retailer. More than 35,000 people entered the promotion.

The four lucky players have won trips for two to Las Vegas. Each package includes: three nights lodging at one of the top four hotels on the Las Vegas Strip, air-fare, limo service to and from the airport and $1,000 cash.

Koshatka, 54, submitted two entries. He said, “I bought $5 worth of Hot Lotto, then the tickets just sat [at my house]. I figured I might as well send them in and see what happens! I’ll be darned!”

Another winner, Dormire, 69, said, “I think this is the first thing I ever won in my life. This is really good news!”

The winners have up to one year to take the trip.

The next time a player hands you cash and asks for separate lotto tick-ets instead of one, do it the easy way!

On the Extrema terminal, simply press “Multi Easy Picks” on the main screen. Then pick the game the player wants to play from the list of icons on the left side of the screen. Type the appropri-ate number of plays and adjust the number of draws. Then press the “Multiple Plays” button in the upper right-hand corner of the screen. This will switch to “Separate Plays” when you press it once. Press “OK” to finish the play now, and your Extrema will print out the specified number of separate tickets for the player.

Now that was easy!

Delores Pome-roy, 57, of Dakota City claimed the jackpot for Iowa’s Oct. 23 $100,000 Cash Game drawing. She

purchased the winning ticket at Hy-Vee,

611 10th Ave. N. in Humboldt and claimed the prize at Iowa Lottery headquarters in Des Moines.

Pomeroy and her husband George had four Cash Game tickets to check, so they split them up to check them. It turns out she ended up with the winning ticket, but she thought George was pull-ing a fast one!

“I said, ‘You faked it!’ He said, ‘What do you mean?’ I said, ‘Well, you fraud! The [winning] numbers and the tickets are all the same!’” she giggled. “I thought he looked at the paper and just somehow put [the winning numbers] on a ticket.”

Pomeroy said she and her husband will pay off their credit cards with their prize money.

$250,000 Win Shocks Pleasant Hill Home Health AideA central Iowa woman couldn’t believe her eyes when she realized she had won $250,000 on an Iowa Lottery instant-scratch ticket.

Carmen Mylon of Pleasant Hill won $250,000 playing the “$35 Million Cash Spectacular” instant-scratch game. She bought her ticket at Casey’s, 802 E. Second Ave. in Indianola.

Mylon, who works as a home health aide, said, “At first, I didn’t know for sure. I was shocked! My kids and my husband didn’t believe me [either]. Then, they were shocked too.”

She already knows what she will do with her win-nings.

“I still can’t believe it’s true … I’m going to pay off bills. I’ll give some to my two sons, too. One is 34, the other is 26.”

Mylon claimed her prize at Iowa Lottery head-quarters in Des Moines.

The $35 Million Cash Spectacular is a $10 game. When players match any of “their numbers” to any “winning number,” they win the prize shown for that play area. If they find a “star” symbol, they win the prize shown instantly. The overall odds of win-ning in the game are 1 in 3.
