• Training to be Missing Animal Response Technician with Kat Albrecht
Who is Kat Albrecht?
• Former police officer in U.S.
• Due to injury in the line of duty, started working as pet detective using ‘missing person’ technique
• Over 20 years of experience
• Featured on Animal Planet, etc
You would…
• Call the police? Not so fast!
• Call the person’s mobile phone• Call the person’s work place maybe?• Call the friends?• Go to places where the person frequent? • Maybe trace the steps?• Imagine a scenario• Then call the police
How does that apply to cats?
• Call the cat!
• Ask people who might know
• Trace the steps
• Work on a scenario
• Search high probability area (we will talk about in more details..)
• THEN posters, Facebook, etc.
Outdoor cat vs indoor cat
Outdoor cat – lost cat, probably due to a fight or flight situation
Indoor cat – a displaced cat, probably hiding
• They probably won’t come to you.
• How to capture?
How to search then?
• Analysis of high probability area
• Physical search – don’t ask the neigbour to search, YOU search (one tip, night time is usually better, eye reflection, less noise, etc)
• Technology
• Internet
One word on internet
• Keep an eye on lost and found page
• Keep an eye on charity page
• Check every single day
What if you find a cat?
• Assume lost, don’t assume abandon
• Scan the chip!!
• Posters (not everyone can use internet, old people, blind people, etc)
Cat profiling
• 8 different cat ‘profile’
• That’s when professional pet detective can help you
• Get in touch, most do Skype consultation

Why CPR?
• 3 minutes lack of oxygen will cause permanent brain damage
• Unfortunately, animals are put to sleep as we simply cannot cope with the care of the animal who are paralyzed
Why should YOU learn CPR?
• Help save lives!
• Legal liabilities
• You do not need perfect technique to help make a big difference
Thank you!
