BAND BIOGRAPHY

Los Hermanos Arango (The Arango Siblings) was created in 2003 as a result of the increasing popularity of the musical concept expressed in their CD “Oro Negro” released in 2002. They play a mixof Afro Cuban jazz and folklore, combining their musical talent with their rich cultural background. The group has an insuperable rhythmic strength and a harmonic richness. The instrumental format integrates harmony, Afro-Cuban percussion played by folkloric drummers and horns, creating a uniqueexperience that embodied in the divine world of the Afro-Cuban religion, adorned with tasteful jazz harmonies, and over solid grooves.

Los Hermanos Arango have earned a name for themselves at festivals and concertsin countries around the world, notably the Montreaux jazz Festival, the North Sea Jazz Festival , and at the LincolnCenter in New York. In 2012, they were invited to perform at the Berklee School of Music, followed by invitations to San Diego State University, USC, and CSULA in 2014. They have shared the stage with established names like Jane Bunnett, Hermeto Pascoal, Billy Cobham, Diane Schuur, Marcus Miler, and Steps Ahead. The group hails from Guanabacoa, Cuba, a municipality characterized by a high level of musical and religious tradition. Musical giants such as Ernesto Lecuona, Rita Montaner, and Ignacio Villa “Bola de nieve” were born and disseminated their incomparable art there. The group has inherited the cultural milieu of the city, and thrive on musical expression. The songs and rhythms are deeply linked with African rituals and unique to their place of origin.
