Welcome to spring... or at least I hope for spring to stick around. We are looking forward to some warm weather and a chance to get outside and enjoy the sun! With the advent of spring another round of parent teacher interviews will commence March 17 and 18. Once we return from Spring Break, there will be three quick months of school left filled with our Interim Report, Outdoor Education camps, Band concerts and tours, badminton, rugby, track and field, Gr. 9 Day Out, A.P.P.L.E. Day, and Farewell night. With 50% of marks still to be earned, students will need to continue working hard both in and out of class, because before we know it finals will creep up on us. This is the time of year when we start the planning process for the 2020 - 2021 school year. We will be hosting a band concert and orientation for our feeder elementary schools to learn about everything Lorne Akins has to offer academically, in our option classes, by joining clubs, being on teams, and by becoming involved in service and leadership activities. We are looking forward to our growing Gator family so please spread the word about our Open House April 9 at 7 p.m. so we can share all of the great things that happen in our swamp. Attention all performers! The Visionary Centre for the Performing Arts is looking for contestants to

compete at St. Alberts' Got Talent on April 3-5th. Representatives from the Centre

will be at Akins to judge who will qualify on March 17th & 18th. If you have a special talent that you

would like to showcase, sign up your solo or group act on the sign-up sheet in the front office before

March 13th to secure your spot! Last year, 5 Gators qualified for the finals!

Gator Catch Up Gator catch up is held at 12:05 on Tuesdays and Thursdays in room 205.

This is an opportunity to have a teacher present to complete work students should have had ready for

class but for some reason did not complete, or to write a test if they were away.

It is not an option for the student to attend. The teacher has given the student another opportunity to

complete work and the student needs to be there.

A big THANK YOU to all Gator parents for their baked goods donations

to our bake sale. We raised over $500 for the Youth Empowerment and Support Services Centre.
