- 1.So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but onwhat is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. Now we know thatif the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, wehave a building from God, an eternal house inheaven, not built by human hands. Meanwhilewe groan, longing to be clothed with ourheavenly dwelling, because when we areclothed, we will not be found naked..
2. For while we are in this tent, we groan and areburdened, because we do not wish to beunclothed but to be clothed with our heavenlydwelling, so that what is mortal may beswallowed up by life. Now it is God who hasmade us for this very purpose and has given usthe Spirit as a deposit, guaranteeing what is tocome. Therefore we are always confident andknow that as long as we are at home in the bodywe are away from the Lord. We live by faith, notby sight. 3. We are confident, I say, and would prefer to beaway from the body and at home with the Lord.So we make it our goal to please him, whetherwe are at home in the body or away from it. Forwe must all appear before the judgment seat ofChrist, that each one may receive what is duehim for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad.2 Corinthians 4:18-5:10 4. 1. RECOGNIZE HOW FRAGILE WE ARE 5. But we have this treasure in jars of clay to showthat this all-surpassing power is from God andnot from us. We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair;persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. 2 Corinthians 4:7-9 6. 1. RECOGNIZE HOW FRAGILE WE ARE2. ANTICIPATE THE REALITIES OF LIFE 7. We are hard pressed on every side, but we arenot crushed. We are perplexed, but not left indespair. We are persecuted, but not abandoned. We are struck down, but not destroyed. 2 Corinthians 4:8-9 8. 1. RECOGNIZE HOW FRAGILE WE ARE2. ANTICIPATE THE REALITIES OF LIFE3.
