For Peoples, 2014 was a year of many celebrations. We’ve celebrated milestones alongside our customers and focused on growth in our footprint, helping more people own a home, and growth in serving new businesses.

In April 2014, Peoples acquired Northwoods National Bank’s-Rhinelander branch and certain loans from their Elcho branch. The acquisition expanded Peoples’ footprint to nine full-service retail and commercial bank locations throughout Wausau, Weston, Rib Mountain, Rhinelander, Eagle River, Marathon and Minocqua. We’ve been very excited to serve our new customers’ financial needs and strengthen local communities.

In October, we also celebrated the 25th anniversary of Peoples’ Rib Mountain location and unveiled a completely remodeled 4,000 square-foot location to improve the customer experience.

We’ve also helped 460 people realize their dreams in buying or building a new home in 2014. Peoples is proud to be a local leader in residential mortgages and provided nearly $58 million in real estate loans this past year.

Helping local businesses succeed financially has been a continued goal for Peoples, and in 2014 we welcomed 210 new businesses, small and large, to the Peoples family with business banking accounts, treasury management and business loan solutions.

As happy as we’ve been, Peoples is committed to continually improving customer service. At our core is an understanding and use of our knowledge, creativity and innovation to provide solutions. That’s why we conduct a customer service survey annually—so we can find what we’re doing well, how we can improve, and what our customers would like to see in the future.

HSA UPDATE Health Savings Accounts (HSA) are a tax favored consumer savings arrangement for individuals and families covered by high deductible health plans. A HSA allows for tax-deductible contributions and tax-free distributions for qualified medical expenses. Peoples makes accessing your HSA account information easy through Online Banking, automated telephone banking and mobile banking.

2015 maximum contribution limits are as follows:Single Coverage .... $3,350Family Coverage .... $6,650

Catch-up contributions of $1,000 for eligible individuals who are 55 plus are allowed. All HSA contributions received are considered current year unless we are notified in writing.

• Break apart the loaf of frozen bread dough, that has thawed, into approximately 1 inch balls, they will rise and double in size.

• Mix together the brown sugar, butter, ice cream and cinnamon, nuts are optional. This is your caramel sauce that will coat the frozen bread dough pieces.

• Place the bread dough pieces in a greased 8x8 cake pan or a bundt cake pan, spoon the caramel sauce over to coat the bread dough. Cover loosely and set some place warm out of a draft until they double in size. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes. Super easy…super delicious!

Family Contribution Limit forHealth Savings Accounts Lowered On March 5, 2018, the IRS announced that the 2018 annual Health Savings Account (HSA) contribution limit has been lowered. For those with family coverage in high deductible health plans, the maximum contribution limit to an HSA has been lowered from $6,900 to $6,850, effective immediately.

Baked Shrimp with Lemon ButterPreheat oven 400 degrees

Ingredients:2 sticks – unsalted butter, melted¼ cup Worchestershire Sauce1 heaping teaspoon – black pepper1 teaspoon – Tabasco Sauce1 teaspoon – Kosher Salt3 cloves – garlic, minced2 lemons – one sliced, one juiced2½ lbs. – Frozen Shrimp, deveined in shells (16-20 ct. size)

Mix everything except shrimp and lemon slices. Pour ½ of mixture in 9” x 12” pan. Add shrimp. Cover with other ½ of mixture. Top with lemon slices. Bake 15-20 minutes. (Turn or stir shrimp at least once during baking.)Don’t forget the bread!

Peter Knitt Named2017 WBA Community Banker of the Year

Peoples donated $15,000 to the Samoset Council, BSA public capital campaign for major projects at Camp Tesomas, one of the nation’s premier Boy Scout camps, in Rhinelander.

Peter Knitt, recently retired President and CEO of Peoples State Bank, was named Community Banker of the Year by The Wisconsin Bankers Association. This award recognizes a bank CEO or president who has made an outstanding effort in service to his or her bank over their career, to their community and to the banking profession. Congratulations Peter!
