John 21:1-12 NASB(1) After these things Jesus manifested Himself again to the disciples at the Sea of Tiberias, and He manifested Himself in this way.(2) Simon Peter, and Thomas called Didymus, and Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, and the sons of Zebedee, and two others of His disciples were together.(3) Simon Peter *said to them, "I am going fishing." They *said to him, "We will also come with you." They went out and got into the boat; and that night they caught nothing.(4) But when the day was now breaking, Jesus stood on the beach; yet the disciples did not know that it was Jesus.(5) So Jesus *said to them, "Children, you do not have any fish, do you?" They answered Him, "No."(6) And He said to them, "Cast the net on the right-hand side of the boat and you will find a catch." So they cast, and then they were not able to haul it in because of the great number of fish.

We need more than Knowledge of the resurrection

Page 8: Looking for Jesus

Includes healing

Reveals His plans to us and for us

Set Boundaries and limits

Establishes ways we are to depend on Him

Requires us to “abide,” “dwell,” and walk with the Holy Spirit

Is centered on God and involves our Christ like transformation

God’s Personal Direction

But the eleven disciples proceeded to Galilee, to the mountain which Jesus had designated. When they saw Him, they worshiped Him; but some were doubtful. And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."

(Mat 28:16-20 NASB)

but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth."

(Act 1:8 NASB)

More was yet needed

"Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."

A foundation to start with

Page 14: Looking for Jesus

God has a common plan that is full of personal

diversity

The basic Christ life has many common elements

Building, reviewing and developing the basics allow us to have a firm foundation

Jesus is the foundation of our lives and He establishes basic things in us.

Starting

Page 15: Looking for Jesus

First of all, then, I urge that entreaties andprayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men, for kings and all who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity. This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

(1Ti 2:1-4 NASB)

Prayer

Page 17: Looking for Jesus

Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered, does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

(1Co 13:4-7 NASB)

He said to them, "It is not for you to know times or epochs which the Father has fixed by His own authority; but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth."
