WELCOME in the name of Jesus! We are glad you have joined us today in praise and worship to our Lord Jesus Christ. Together we share the Gospel, God’s Good News of salvation. This is a free gift which we cannot earn and do not deserve. It is only through faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, who suffered, died and rose from the dead, that we are forgiven and receive the promise of eternal life.

VISITORS AND GUESTS We sincerely invite you to be with us regularly and make St. John your church home. Please stop by our Welcome Center, located in the Commons Area, for a gift and information. Worshipers who have difficulty rising and standing during our services may remain seated with our complete understanding. Assisted Hearing Devices are available to those who have some hearing impairment. To obtain a device, please check with an usher. A Nursery is available for children up to four years. A Nursing Mother’s Room, equipped with audio/visual system, is located next to the nursery. Tote Bags for children ages three through kindergarten are located in the Commons. Reserved Pews have been set aside for the residents of Bethesda. Prayer Kiosk in Commons: A member of the Prayer Team will be available to take your request, which will be given to the pastors before the time of prayer.

AN ASL INTERPRETER is available at the Majestic Grace Service.

LOST & FOUND is located in the Worship Center Commons behind the Welcome Center.

THE SACRAMENT OF HOLY COMMUNION is offered at St. John on the first and third Sundays of the month in both services. For more information about the Lord’s Supper refer to the pamphlet in the pew rack. If you have difficulty coming up to the communion rail one of our pastors will come to you.

AS WE GATHER TODAY We welcome Seminarian Chris Nietubicz (son-in-law of Mark & Jean Froehlich) today who will share God’s word with us, based on Romans 10:11-17, and reflecting on the truth of Jesus’ words in Matthew 5:8-9, “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the sons of God.” May God bless our worship, Sem. Nietubicz' preaching, our hearing, and through the Holy Spirit’s work in us, those we encounter throughout the week.

Today we celebrate the Sixth Sunday of Easter. The Sundays of Easter continue the expression, “The Lord has risen!” Over these next fifty days between Jesus’ resurrection and ascension, the church often remembers this time of the calendar as a time of joy, celebration, and gladness. White and gold often symbolize this time to recall light, purity, and royalty.

Confirmation 2014-2015 We are preparing for next fall by gathering the names of students who will be newly enrolled. Confirmation classes begin in sixth grade and include three years of training. We have a holistic approach to youth ministry/confirmation in Junior High and incorporate celebrate, live, and share within our current program. The students learn about Scripture and what we believe and teach as Lutheran Christians as well as social activities and opportunities to serve in their community. The sixth/seventh-grade year is focused on the Old and New Testament with the second half of seventh-grade year beginning Luther’s Small Catechism. The eighth-grade year is focused on a review of the 10 commandments as well as the Apostle’s Creed, Baptism and Holy Communion as outlined in Luther’s Small Catechism. Please e-mail Rhonda Mohr and let her know if you would like to enroll your child in confirmation. If you have previously been enrolled and plan to continue, you do not need to do anything. If your child is a seventh or eighth grader and has not been enrolled, please contact Rhonda.
