Invite a Friend to Community Choir Concert on March 27 Join us in the church sanctuary at 7 pm on Friday, March 27 for the next concert in our free Community Concert Series. We’ll be handing out invitations after our worship services today for you to invite a friend. The adult choirs of PVUMC and La Casa de Cristo
Lutheran perform Bob Chilcott’s Requiem, a modern-day composition first performed in 2010. Come hear powerful music set to texts that have inspired composers for centuries. No tickets are necessary, but we encourage you to register via our Eventbrite site, which provides sharing via social media and email invitations: https://pvumc-community-concerts-2014-2015.eventbrite.com. A free-will offering will be taken at the event, and a dessert reception follows. The God We Can Know Classes and Devotions We encourage you to buy the book, The God We Can Know: Exploring the I “AM” Sayings of Jesus, by Rob Fuquay, available in the church office during the week and at the Lenten study classes. Almost Christian Discussion Group Meets Sundays Rev. Doug Norris and Christopher Wurpts lead a Sunday morning discussion group for three weeks, beginning TODAY, March 15 at 11 am in F5/6. The class will focus on the spiritual lives of teenagers today, referencing the book by Kenda Creasy Dean, Almost Christian: What the Faith of Our Teenagers is Telling the American Church. This is an opportunity for grandparents, guardians, parents, and youth leaders to gain valuable insight on the future of the church.
Serendipities Green Day Sale Benefits Mingus Mountain Camp Serendipities, our church gift shop, invites you to recycle your inspirational and devotional books at its St Patrick’s Day event. Look for bins on campus to donate your gently used books. We’ll resell them on Sunday, March 22, with all shop proceeds going to Mingus Mountain Camp and scholarships. Serendipities is open on Wednesdays, 9 am-12 noon (please call the church office first to make sure the shop is open), and on Sundays, 9 am-12:30 pm.
Teachers Needed for Summer Sunday Camp Kinder-6th Grade
Our children are important to us at PVUMC, and we offer year-round ministry programs for them. One of our programs is Summer Sunday Camp, and we need teachers to make it a success. Please check your calendar and sign up to volunteer at 9:30 am. Eight to 12 volunteers are needed each Sunday. Choose the age level that you enjoy the most, and the date(s) you are available. For safety reasons, we screen our volunteers via an application process and background check. Thank you for teaching!

Youth Need Donations for 10th Annual Mission Dinner and Auction The 10th Annual Youth Mission Dinner and Auction will be in the Fellowship Center, Sunday, April 26, and we are in need of your donations and support. If you can donate a gift certificate or new item, or ask a local business to donate to our auction, we would appreciate it. Live and silent auction items are being accepted now through Easter Sunday, April 5, and all proceeds from the event fund youth mission opportunities at PVUMC. Sponsors and contributors will be listed in the evening program, and donation forms are available from the church office. Themed baskets; sports items; event tickets; gift certificates; weekend getaway packages to hotels and resorts; electronics; timeshare weeks/cabin stays; frequent flyer miles, or cash donations to offset dinner expenses are all appreciated. Preschool Seeks Donations for Ice Cream Social PVUMC Preschool’s 29th Annual Ice Cream Social is Thursday, April 23 and would love the church’s support. Mark your calendars to join us for some family fun and raise money for school improvements and scholarships. Join the Saguaros for St Patrick’s Day Feast and Entertainment On Thursday, March 19, join the Saguaros, our 55+ group, at 10 am in the Fellowship Center as they celebrate St Patrick’s Day together. The Melodaires Band will play Irish favorites and the group will provide a feast of corned beef, cabbage and potatoes. Friends welcome!

Register for Imagine That! Summer Camp PVUMC hosts Imagine That! Summer Camp again this summer for two sessions. Session I is June 1-18, and Session II is June 22-July 9. The three-week sessions are Monday-Thursday, 9 am-12 noon for morning and 1-3 pm for afternoon. Lunch bunch is an option for all-day campers, and there are Jump Start Classes offered from 8-9 am. Last year, more than 50 schools and 600-plus children participated in Imagine That! Summer Camp. Registration began March 1. For more information, visit www.imaginethatsummercamp.com. Support Relay for Life of Paradise Valley/Arcadia: Join or Donate On Friday, April 17 at Kiva Elementary School, the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life of Paradise Valley/Arcadia begins its all-night vigil at 6 pm in support of survivors, caregivers and victims of the disease. Cancer seems to touch all of us. The Relay for Life is a way to remember those who fought the good fight, and celebrate the survivors. It’s also a way to raise money to fight all types of cancer and ensure that more survive it in the future. You can help by joining the Celebrating Life team, headed by co-captains Kim Levensky and Marnie Marquardt, both PVUMC members. If you can’t join the team, consider donating to their team or to one of their members, or purchasing a luminaria in honor of or in memory of someone you know who may have cancer or passed away because of the disease. Celebrate Palm/Passion Sunday and Easter with PVUMC Join us on Palm/Passion Sunday, the beginning of Holy Week, on Sunday, March 29. The Sunday school children are invited to join their classes for a palm parade through the Sanctuary at the beginning of the 9:30 am service. On Easter Sunday, April 5, join us for one of our four Easter Sunday morning services filled with joyful music and inspirational messages:
6 am (Ignite) Sunrise service in the outdoor amphitheater with Praise Band
8, 9:30 am and 11:15 am: Traditional Worship in the Sanctuary
Free childcare is available for all our services except for sunrise, and Sunday School is offered at 9:30 am for age 2-6th grade. We’ll also offer interactive stations for parents and children at our Walk through Holy Week in H1 all week, beginning Palm Sunday. Check the pvumc.org website for information on Holy Week activities and services.
Young Adults Meet Sundays at Paradise Bakery for Lunch in March Join other young adults at the Paradise Bakery at Tatum & Shea (northeast corner) for lunch and conversation about The God We Can Know Lenten study book by Rob Fuquay. Feed My Starving Children Packing Event on Saturday, March 21 PVUMC offers monthly meal packing opportunities on Saturdays, 4:30-6:30 pm. We invite you, your family and friends to join us at the Feed My Starving Children
